The thing is, Hasbro has shown a pattern of not directly addressing customer concerns for years now and now its hurting them. We can talk to them about distribution issues, difficulty finding certain toys in particular, no Hasbro reps having a presence in parts of the country, etc. but it won't a difference if they just consider it to be petty complaints.

What killed 4th quarter earnings for Hasbro was the ports being closed on the West Coast. It is that simple.
The fact that we saw toys trickle in slowly onto the shelves - if at all - was due to this simple fact. Few new toys made it onto the shelves from Hasbro at all. (This was true for most toy lines as well but particularly Hasbro.) Marvel Universe, which is a strong seller for Hasbro, didn't get waves until after Christmas. There was little new for Avengers, Spider-Man, Star Wars, or Transformers. Sadly, there is now - but its too late. Hasbro has actually improved its distribution but it can't help when boxes aren't unloaded for weeks on the docks! The lack of GI Joe product did hurt their bottom line because, I'm sure, that was part of their 2012 projection (I'm sure they were revised but sometimes Hasbro might use an old projection to fit with a new business plan). There was little "synergy" with TFs and the new video game. SW has been coasting for quite some time with so many repaints - particularly of vehicles - that it is hard to spot a "new" Darth Vader among all the old ones (a "new" figure usually is constituted by a slight change in the lightsaber). What is sad is that Hasbro fired their most successful product line leader - Marvel Universe's Vonner - because of distribution. That line went from being pretty lousy to exceeding GI Joe in terms of articulation. Now it is apparent that Hasbro is beginning to kill of that line to try and make it line up better with the movies and cartoons that Disney is producing. Truth be told, Hasbro was likely looking for an excuse to cut their labor force, cut articulation, and begin remaking their company from toys to diversified into movies, tv, video games, apps, etc. But make no mistake - the 4th quarter was killed by Chinese made products having trouble making it onto the shelves. Starting very recently, TFs, MU, and even some SW figures have started appearing that were suppose to be out before Christmas.

The problem is putting out the same figures (Thor, Spiderman, IronMan) across multiple lines that don't sell.
You can still walk into stores and buy Iron Man II figures yet they are getting ready to dump the third movie figures soon Same thing with Spiderman NONE of that stuff moved. |

I'm pretty bad at business stuff, but I think it's Wall Street projections instead of in company projections. Some math I don't totally understand where Wall Street projects what a company should do in profits so people can determine if the company is a good investment or a bad investment.
