From what other company have you ever heard of them doing such a thing?

There is nothing wrong with the price-someone wants to spend that amount they are entitled to. No one said anything about the price.
What's not right is they have an item thas was supposed to be and advertised as a convention only exclusive and then later becomes available to anyone who wants it without attending the convention. Mind you how poorly it was distributed and the "one or two per person (however it was advertised) was quickly disregarded. What's the point of having convention exclusives that really aren't convention exclusives. Then they list this item on their web site. How many people go to the conventions just for the exclusives but that you can later purchase on their web site. Not only did they "sell out" at the convention and then online-they "magically" saved some that scored 9.0 and 9.5 according to AFA and everyone is ok with that? I wonder if you were to open these figures and re-send them for grading what you'd get and you would quickly see that Hasbro and AFA are most likely in bed together. Not being an AFA expert, from what I gather, 9.0 don't come along very often let alone a 9.5. Of course the AFA is going to grade them high-it's HASBRO. Who's product do you think AFA is making more money of off by grading? Toybiz, etc? Hasbro make money-yes, but this is not the way to go about it. When have you EVER heard of a company that knows a product is a top seller and highly sought after and finds a way to sell it for more than the MSRP? "we made x amount of y, Mr. CEO and sold them for z. We're sold out and the demand is so high that we held onto a few of them and are going to have them certified and sold for 25x" Poor business ethics- |

Sometimes the guys with the deeper pockets get more than the little guy, whether it comes from eBay sellers, comic shops, or straight from Hasbro themselves. If you want one, dig into your wallet. If you don't, then what's the big deal? Who cares if Hasbro held back some of these to have them graded? It's their product. People want to buy graded figures from Hasbro, and they're selling graded figures to those collectors. I don't know how anyone could be so offended by other collectors getting what they want for their money. |

Who's complaining about price? Where are you getting that?
How they have made this figure available is what it at issue here. No one is complaining about the price. In FACT-for a graded figure it is more reasonable than the other AFA graded stuff that comes up. I have a problem with the inconsistent manner in which how they distributed it going from one available method, to another to another. And by the way-there is NO need to use vulgar language. Vulgarity shows one's level (or lack thereof)of education where they cannot find more suitable and appropriate words to express how they feel. So make whatever argument and express whatever opinion you have, the language you have chosen to use shows me that your take on this issue is pointless. |

You spend so much time trying to justify your side and knock everybody else down-you forget your Wheaties today?
If Hasbro continues to make a figure because they have found out that they can sell it for a HUGE profit (from a manufacturing point of view as these figures only costs them less than $1.00 to make), that's not right If someone wants to spend that kinda of money in the secondary market, that's cool-but the secondary market price SHOULD NOT dictate the price from the manufacturer-it just means that they (Hasbro) should either: 1. Produce another run 2. Continue making other or similiar runs 3. Increase their runs 4. Be happy with the way the inital run went and plan for others and HOPE for similiar success (BTW-I work in manufacturing too) Case in point-they stopped the production run of the Yellow Stalkers and released limited numbers that fetch prices that are 15X the retail price-should they caplitize on that by producing more yellow Stalkers and making them available at the secondary market price even though they went and have already changed him over-no, what company does that?? FYI pal, I NEVER complain about repaints, variations, RETAIL prices, swaps etc and I am not doing it here-my gripe is how they have gone about making this figure available and the means they have "justified" charging the amount of money they do when the figure is NOT a secondary market product. If a person on Ebay was selling it for that price-more power to them and I hope they sell it but for the manufacturer to do that-is not right. Get off your horse about collectors claiming the holier than thou junk-where did that come from? I have an opinion, it's valid and shared by a large commune of people in the GI JOE community, AND I have experience in manufacturing (first run products, retailer vs secondary market, MSRP etc) to speak of. Stop insulting people and quit using vulgar (oh excuse me PROFANE language) to get your point across.) Instead, when someone's opinion disparates (look it up) your's-look up a new word that will help you express YOUR opinion in an adult way |
