Though I am not into this whole zombie craze going on right now I have to admit that cobra zombies versus Mega Marines is a great concept and I would gladly pay for all the 25th aniv style figures that would be made.

I respect that some like this, but it's just not my thang. I got into Joes at the start in '82, and to me, this is so far removed that it almost seems like a different toy line altogether.

Mega Marines were awesome. My biggest complaint with the concept was simply that there were not enough figures in the line. It gave us a cool new character in Mirage, and an updated Clutch. However, I would have loved to have seen the line expanded to include other updates of underused characters, and more vehicles. Some air support perhaps.
This line had so much unrealized potential.

I always loved the idea of Mega Marines, but as a kid i only had the monsters as toys. My Joes were always fighting monsters, usually Kenner Aliens. Count me in the group who would love to see them revisited (with less neon colors).

I would be intrigued, however, if, say, the club did a zombie set. It could include like 5 zombies, a hazard viper, Mindbender, Airtight and some other joes.

I wish we could convince Sideshow to make a Gung-Ho like that.

Okay...I'll admit I don't get all the love. I can only see neon, stupid gimmicks, and spring loaded weapons. All you'd have to do is take away a few points of articulation and it would be screaming "bad toy".

You have a point but from a kids point of view, which I was still barely one when Mega Marines came out, it had TONS of 90's playability.

The ONLY thing I did not like about the Mega Marines were that the Bio and Monstro vipers lacked full articulation. Modernize all of the designs and give me translucent PVC armor instead of playdoh and I will BUY THEM ALL!
Also that Gung Ho just looked bad ass, that armor was cool. This was one of the rare times where neon actually worked for GI Joe. |
