Before anyone says anything about Pit-City and being too out there...
I posted this in another post: "Actually, the skyscrapers make sense. Judging by that one picture, there's a VERY large support staff and army in place within the Pit. That many people requires alot of space. Now, I'm assuming that each person gets a room to themselves, maybe even an apartment. Which would make sense considering that they live underground and are isolated from the rest of the world. So that many people, that many apartments, that many recreational facilities, a hospital big enough for all those people, etc.., etc.. And underground, you'd want to go up and not spread out. Spreading would create too much "roof" area to support. 20 stories is only about 260 feet deep. That's not that hard to imagine finding a cavern that deep and open. Now building it, that's a different story, but entirely doable. I like the use of one of the buildings as a support for the cavern roof. Sound engineering thinking there. This PITT is much more realistic/believable then any of the previous incarnations, which were basically just holes in the ground with the PITT inserted. The first PITT was the worst. There's no way that could have been built without demolishing and removing the base above and then rebuilding the entire base. How'd they get away with that one in secret? Same with rebuilding the PITT (2nd PITT). How'd they get all the materials there and do all the construction without tearing up and rebuilding the base above? The 3rd PITT is closest to the IDW PITT, but still a big hole in the ground. If anyone of you has ever done concrete foundation work, you know you have to dig a ways out from where your wall is to prevent the earth from falling back into your hole. So if you have a 40x40 foundation, you'd need to dig a hole around 50x50 or even more depending on how deep you're digging."

I don't mind the underground headquarters but what was the flying saucer-like object hovering above the troops running in the background? That was a bit too sci-fi-ish for my tastes, but so far I like the new look. Aside from some of the corny dialogue (but it's hard to escape this in comic books) and the appearance of Wraith, I like the level of suspense that they're developing. I'm already getting impatient for #2. Damn, I wish these weren't monthly issues.

Good issue, nice start, several irons on the fire.
As far as Dial Tone being a chick, unless you're firmly in the "change frightens me!!" category, what's the big deal? When was he ever a major character? I might be with you if they'd changed Hawk or something, but c'mon.

Yeah, the flying saucer was kind of a "uhm.." thing. But as long as it's an experimental saucer and used only in the PITT, then I'll be okay with it.

I'm not liking what I am hearing. I can understand rebooting the continuity. That's fine. But just because you are rebooting the story doesn't mean you have to make major changes to the characters. Like for example, if they were to bring back the Thundercats cartoon I wouldn't expect them to go off the same continuity as the original. But at the same time I wouldn't expect them to have Panthro as a woman.

Great review but the million dollar question is that is this series worth buying and collecting? With six cover variants, should I jump in ballz deep and buy them all and store 'em or will this series leave something to be desired like in the DDP line?
What can I say...I'm die hard marvel. Doc

So I'm wondering which cover everybody is going to get. I bought the Atkins' cover illustrating Snake, Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock and Hawk because it's reminiscent of the classic style. I passed on the others because I don't want to spend 20 bucks every time I want to read a new story.

HAHAHAHA....
This makes me laugh, I wasted my time with my issue review. Good points though. |
