Star Wars is a bit of a different beast, since Hasbro doesn't OWN Star Wars. But like GI Joe, neither do they have any inclination to create high end, collector lines. Different markets. Certainly there's SOME overlap, but not much, in the grand scheme of things. Hasbro probably knows what they're doing. Personally, I don't know a single GI Joe collector who actually buys the 12" Hasbro occasionally puts on the market. However, I still occasionally see 12" figures at places like Toys 'r' Us and Walmart, so obviously Hasbro thinks SOMEONE's buying them - and I'm going to assume they actually have figures (dollars, not toys) to back that up. Point is, it's not an either/or situation, as your post seems to imply.

It really amazes me that there are so many of y'alls out there who are against the 1960's - 70's 12" line that started it all. I LOVE the crap out of those figures but HATE the newer 12" lines.
I don't see how people can even equate the old-school 12" line to any of the other GI Joe 12" lines, they are on completely different level. There is an awesome old-world feel to those figures and I continue to collect them when Hasbro releases them, they make awesome display pieces~!!!

BS. If Hasbro thought they were actually competing, they wouldn't get the license.

Hasbro ressurrecting another 12" joe line might be scarfed up by adult collector's,not kids...kids are not interested in these kind of figures |

not everyone is made of money and people like me have kids who like GI JOE, so your statement isnt very well though out. If I'm cheap its because I have to be, but you know i'll do one better, i buy my 12 inch figures from biglots soooo how is that for cheap LOL.

I think the Hisstank mods should put together all their money and buy the GI Joe brand from Hasbro. And then they should open a GI Joe production plant and produce the Joes the way that they should really be produced. And they can hire all of us Hisstankers to make the figures. Then when we have produced all the figures, vehicles and playsets that we have always wanted remodded we will become displeased with our pay and working conditions and then go on strike. Then Shin, not giving in to our demands, will order a certain number of us to return to work or he and TTT are going to file bankruptcy. Then all Joes that are in the stores will fly off the shelves and be placed on eBay and sold for outrageous prices. Who's with me?

That will only work for like a week or two. Just like when Retaliation was delayed and people rushed the stores for possibly canceled figures to eBay. ;)

I don't buy the Sideshow line because I cannot afford it. It's because I don't want to waste my time collecting yet another series of action figures. The original Actioni/Kung Fu grip guys were freaking awesome~! YES THEY ARE CHEAPLY MADE, but that is partial to the nostalgia. Those of you who are riding your "Sideshow" horse need to step back for a moment. :P
