Guys, I think that the reason why Hasbro patented the names of the 12 inch Joes is because the patent only lasts a certain amount of time!! So, with that said, Hasbro may be re-applying for the patent so no other company can come out with a line of action figures called "Action Soldier," "Action Sailor," & "Action Pilot." So it may just be updating the patent or it may mean that Hasbro is going to re-release the 12 inchers!!

Either way, I'm not expecting anything to come of this until very late 2013 if not early 2014. I wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro had stuff in work for the brand's 50th in 2014, but I'm NOT terribly thrilled at seeing another batch of 12" figures sit and clog up retail when the brand isn't a hot property to begin with. Heavy Duty...could be for a club figure. With Roadblock back into play, he is very much a redundant character and given how lean the Retaliation line has been with characters, I don't see a Retaliation Heavy Duty being on the table. But we still haven't seen a "classic" Heavy Duty, a prime figure for the Club's efforts.

3 3/4" Figures | YoJoe.com: Dedicated to the G.I.Joe of the 80's, 90's and beyond!
Hasbro has a history of exploring the 12" concepts in 3.75" format, so I don't think it is a forgone conclusion these trademarks are for one format over the other. Just that Hasbro plans to do SOMETHING with them in time for the 50th Anniversary. That said, I think the classic 12" Joe concepts with PoC level detail and features would be pretty impressive.

Trademarks are good for as long as they're in use; they don't expire while in use (under most circumstances).

Trademark - Transformers Wiki In regards to GI Joe, you saw name reuse flare up much sooner than Transformers (I wouldn't be surprised if Larry Hama's involvement was a factor in that)

But either way, that's some remarkable "jump to conclusion" ability you have there. |

"Heavy Duty"???
Didn't he die on some island by a smoke monster, which is why he's not in Retaliation? Quote:
