Hell, anymore a $100 is a REALLY hard sell for a toy. The 83 Joe HQ and the Terrordrome I can see, but the complex or giant sets like the Flagg and Defiant are NOT going to happen, unless the movie creates a demand for Joes near that of Transformers this year. I don't know where ya get the idea that no one likes to put things together anymore, I think it's probably more of a company's decision to make items preassembled already Someone already mentioned they can have the Flagg's in the back room and just dedicate banner space to selling them Have you seen the prices of some "Toys" lately? Target and Wal-mart both sell a "Life-like" pony for $200-$300! Sure it's more advanced than a Flagg, but it's a toy. A toy you have to do some assembly to I believe, since it looks to be bigger than the box it comes in and it's a big freaking box! Looks like someone stacked 4 or more Flaggs on top of each other....and this is the 2nd year in a row that these stores have been selling them. Now we just need the demand for a Flagg from more than the collecting community |

Now we just need the demand for a Flagg from more than the collecting community Steevy Maximus does have a point about retail space. Hasbro would never convince Target or Wal-Mart to carry something that large and expensive for an action figure line. On the other hand, Toys Я Us wouldn't have as much difficulty. They generally have room for storage in their back rooms, and there isn't a TЯU in our state that couldn't fit a Flagg display on their sales floor. So as an exclusive there? It's possible, but I doubt anyone would be willing to risk the capital investment required to do it. |

Don't get me wrong, because they have some neat and useful stuff in the place for a decent price, but that doesn't mean I can tolerate looking through all that other shit to find it. The closest one to me is four hours away in Atlanta, but they're opening one here in a year or so. I dread that day.
But putting together toys? I love that. I'm always disappointed when vehicles come painted or with labels applied already. I want to do that stuff myself, just like I did as a kid. |

The purpose of our question over at YoJoe was just to let the team talk about things they liked and would love to see in a perfect world.
Toys like the USS Flagg are not viable in today's marketplace, no matter how much we would love them. In the 80s, the USS Flagg was not considered viable, but was sold as a risk and gamble - which actually did well. It was luck, pure and simple. |

All this FLAGG talk makes me miss the fact that I never had one as a kid. I might just get it if it actually was re-released.

I just can't see that happening. Vehicles, sure, but not the FLAGG. Petroleum costs a heckuva lot more today than it did in 1986. What would it have to cost for Hasbro to make a profit? $200? $250? More? I don't know much about the inner workings of the toy business, but I think it seems unlikely.
