Isn't this a conflict of interest? I'm all about supporting the mods on this site, but I don't feel the need to chat Joes anywhere else aside from the tank. I was on TNI but found that it got VERY boring very quickly. Then some members were posting about this site and *poof* I was hooked.
I've signed up to the Ark, but don't think I'll visit it too much. This is my home now. Unless this site is going somewhere requiring us to move, in which case it's a good thing I signed up with the same handle so I don't lose my identity.

I signed up too. I like having all the different sections for different types of toys.
A couple things though - The layout is very distracting having the posting names on the right-middle. But I can get used to that. What's with the "items on ebay" thing slammed right in under the first post? Other sites have that sort of first line advert unless you sign up, then it's gone when you login. In fact, and I know advertising is important, the whole feel of the forums was "ads ads ads" but maybe it's just me. I felt my eyes getting pulled to the right since the left is full of empty space and all the art, pics and color on the right (hisstank's darker color scheme helps smooth everything out and make a balance). Also, we read left to right so that's where we look - good for adverts, but annoying to me. Still, I'm going to give it a chance! Congrats on going live with the site guys!

Toy Ark, for those of you who have no clue, was a website of TFW member Choppaface, and he took amazing pictures of his collection.
He was also a staff member at TFW, and their toy discussion area was named Toy Ark. Sadly, I think he was too busy with school and outside life, and had lost the domain name, and some crackhead bought it up as soon as it had expired. Choppa was an awesome dude, and it's great that Tony and co. were able to get that domain name back from the evil ones, and it's even more great that they are using it for something as hip as this. You guys should just sit back and enjoy it, and stop with the double guessing and conflict of interest stuff. The logo, which I am not understanding how people are not getting it, and please correct me if I am wrong, is a big T A for TOYARK. It was a very welcome surprise to see Toy Ark back, believe it or not, it's still been in my favorite links for YEARS. Good work!!!!!!! |

I don't know if I will ever actually use it, but it seems like a pretty good idea....
Though it isn't quite perfect yet. Seems like the ideal woudl be to some how simulate the environment of a big collectors convention...where the whole thing is "general interest" but there are dozens of highly focused specific areas within it. Looks like Toy Ark is getting close to that.....maybe the web, as it is, can't really support what I am picturing. My HIsstank, my terrordrome, and my yojoe pretty much give me my Joe fix and I don't really have the time, energy, or money to get into other toys right now. Josh

Hey Destro, Tony, just a small suggestion, but instead of having separate gi joe and transformers forums, why not just have the links direct people to hisstank and tfw2005.
The way it stands now, you will have people posting in both places, which means less traffic to either one. if you combine them, the traffic will only go to one site, there wil not be repetitive posts in both places. I hate to use this as a comparison, but one of the things I dislike about TNI right now is that if you post on Jedi Insider about something, the people on TNI see an entirely different forum. Same goes for Tformers.com and TNI, its repetative, confusing, and splits your traffic. If you just combine the two forums it will eliminate that problem. |
