That's wrong on so many accounts. When you are manufacturing for another nation, you are dependent on them. Japan thought they were independent, and discovered that they were wrong. Go back and watch a movie like "Rising Sun" which imagined Japan much like you describe China. The military thing is silly. China's military is not advanced at this point, only recently beginning to develop its own hardware instead of using older Russian equipment. Much is made of their investments, but in the 80s and 90s we all heard about how much Japanese investors had purchased of American debt. We don't hear much about that anymore.
China is not a consumer nation. They want to be, but they are not yet. They are around 20 years from being that - but if US companies up and move production to Vietnam or Indonesia or back home, then their economy goes up in smoke. It speaks of how amazingly strong our economy is that so little manufacturing exists in our country and yet we remain the largest economy. And don't just assume about companies not moving back to the USA. It is happening already - albeit very slowly. It is smart politically as well as cheaper for many companies as China wants a higher waged work force. The most appealing part of China for manufacturing is costs. It used to be Mexico. Hasbro will always go where it is cheap and easy to manufacture. |

I dunno, that takes A LOT of motivation...and most are not that motivated unfortuantley...I have a feeling th emajority would just accept occupation, unless they belong to a militia or some red dawn fanatic group lol...and a billion people is a lot of meat grinding with convential weapons....China has already boasted they can sink tons of our ships with just floating pantoons of explosives...we would have to nuke them as the crossed the ocean, but with the prevailing winds+jet strean we would end up destoying our own country with fallout doing that...it would bebe an improbable scenario...but I dont put it past world powers to eventually invade the US like in milton bradleys Fortress America board game where Eruo-Russia/China-India-Middle east/South America+Central America arm up against us and rush the borders...that would be an epic world war....hah
China saber rattles because of Taiwan and they can't even come up with a way to take that island intact due to US threats and defeating its purposes to use nukes. If they are unable to invade an island just off their coast successfully, I don't see them crossing the Pacific.

I think the one time you could legitimately bring up this taboo subject, not one board member on here is bitching that they will have less money on top of the high prices, for action figures because of yesterday's decision. I mean seriously. The one time you could really tie the two together, one as a hobby, the other as a pillager of said hobby through dumb decision making and policy setting and no one is saying shit about that. I mean seriously. What in the Sam Hell?? Or what in the Hell Sam???????? Quote:
Best explained here. I agree with 99.99999999999% of what this man says about it not getting any better And old Dougy raises the bar by putting it all into perspective.

The problem is one of US Submarines which are superior to every other nation. The only reason nations are able to get close to our ships is that we permit them to. Think about the last time one of our ships was damaged by another ship: the USS Cole in Yemen. And that was a terrorist attack on a docked ship. And the pontoon attack was first suggested by a US Admiral in a paper on how our navy could be defeated many years ago - be certain that there are numerous strategies against it, most likely just moving our subs out further to defend against this. Its nothing more than solving the same problem that the Soviet tank forces posed for us - smart cluster munitions would solve the problem. There are plenty of solutions that are more effective than nukes.

It would be interesting to see how that would pan out on the costs of toys lol...tawain gets embargoed by Chinese warships...following an invasion...North Korea moves on South Korea + Japan Russians move to back up both China and North Korea...they are all waiting for the right moment...we slip up just once...those old foes will be ready for some payback..and there goes my Joe collection :0...least those BBI/True Heros toys CHina puts out are kinda cool...I always wanted a T-90 MBT for my October Guard.... |

yeah I guess...still will be a battle of wills/effort though...who will really come to the plate etc. Will they be ready to play ball? we've been caught with our pants down once before...remember pearl harbor. History repeats itself...and we dont teach good history anymore..so we will be doomed to repeat it...

To be fair, the Joe line would GREATLY benefit from a little patriotism and warfare. While it would screw up production, I can see soccer moms be more receptive to "war toys" if they were feeling particularly patriotic. I just pray it doesn't take THAT for these toys to be relevant to kids again!

What it will take for toys to be relevant again is for the video game industry to literally fold over night. Blame it on all the fancy gizmo's and gadgets these kids have these days. I mean seriously, what do you think a kid would rather have, a computer in his pocket via the smart phone, or an action figure? Suddenly the action figure starts to seem really lame. If this were true then Modern Warfare 3 and all the other war simulators and desensitizing these little bastards are exposed to these days, should have seen JOE sales spike through the roof.
