Because seriously...anyone that was thinking there was going to be "tide us over" product in the interim surely doesn't. It's a minimum of 6 months to go from concept to shelves, and that's for something that is ONLY a basic repaint of an existing figure. For an "all new" or "significantly new" character, it's closer to a year or a year and a half. The only thing they might have been able to do is reshuffle the assortments to put out a wave of "non movie" figures in movie packaging, but then they're cutting into product they want to sell as "movie product" so...yeah, it was a very long shot to begin with. I'm not at all surprised, and anyone that was seriously hoping for interim product was carrying a case of unrealistic expectations. |

Through no fault of the Joe development team, but yes.
Corporate has basically told them "don't show off anything new until Toy Fair." They can't do anything about that. It is absofuckinglutely pathetic that they're already telling us "Wait until Toy Fair!" in goddamn JUNE, but again...that's not the fault of the guys sitting here at the panel. Nor is it their fault that one of the only things they -can- show off is a line that most of us probably won't give a hoot about (the micro-line). But yes, as others have noted: Nothing on the Dollar Store Joes? Somebody ask some questions! Also, it was advertised there would be TWO "major reveals"...which is the second one? :P |

I understand the details, I was just hoping that they could either move up production of something they already had in the pipeline for after the movie (unlikely I know), or increase production of the Dollar General Joes and distribute them more widely. Hopefully including more of the rumored variations. That's not entirely unlikely.

Yes, because those quick 4-packs on Amazon looked like it took a long time to develop a box with art and a tray with bagged figures. Until Black CC for Retaliation showed up (meaning all 4 singles were essentially the same as their Wave 1 versions), that box was doing well in sales and Renegades was doing very well.
The model has been tested and works. Give us some quick 4-pack to 7-pack box sets to fill a need now and develop the more collector looking window box 7-packs later for other items. They could probably do two 4-packs of just all of their Zombies and see how well the market takes them. There were plenty of army builders there to justify multiple purchases.

To echo a few others... No info on the DG joes? I'm holding off on buying a set at ebay prices until I see if they are coming to a store that I actually have in my state...

But again, even an "increase production" order wouldn't hit shelves for a few months. And retailers still have to buy them. |

Granting all of that, they still could've explained why there is an entire line of awesome figures in a display case that won't be produced and what they plan to do about it. Unless that's some other panel?
