Its tough for me to compare Abe Lincoln's hat with this Extreme Tank, but If customizing the hat would allow me to have an actual use for it, then yes.

Yeah the Battle Hawk has a very unique design. I always thought it looked like a cross between a Conquest and and a Dragonfly. It was my favorite vehicle from the GIJoe Extreme cartoon, so when I found out Hasbro gave the molds to Funskool, I did my best to track one down. The Bad part was I had to paint the rotors and landing gear/handle. They were all neon orange and tail was not two tone like the pics of the back of the package. I had to then, buy a bunch of paint from my local art store and mix them to create a shade of gray that was closest to the rest of the fuselage.

As for the item being sold, i don't think it's worth anywhere near what you're asking for it. You said it yourself that the reason it hasn't sold is because of the price. The item, although rare, just isn't desirable. Let's put it this way, I had an item (still sealed) that was supposedly never produced for retail. However some were made and given to Hasbro employess. YOJOE.COM | Thunderwing Jet Pack It was made for the 12 inch Hall of Fame figures, who like Extreme, aren't very popular with collectors. Even though it was only given to employees and is apparently pretty rare, I sold it for less than what you're asking on shipping. Apples to oranges? Maybe so. Just saying rarity doesn't always equate to value.

True the Sky Stalker did make it to market. I remember all the Toyrus, Ventures, and KBToys in my area, had the Sky Stalker in stock and they sat on the shelves forever. However, the helicopter known as The Tiger Hawk did not make it to the US Market. The Tiger Hawk was renamed and repackaged as the Battlehawk and sold exclusively in India. I was lucky enough to have both in my collection. They also made an exclusive green repaint of the Sky Stalker for the overseas martket, but I've only seen it MIB and I don't own one. Very few of these exclusives vehicles show up on Ebay and when they do they usually sell for under $100. I picked up my US Sky Stalker MIB three years ago for $25.00, that's including S & H, which is what it retailed for in stores back in the 90's. The Battle Hawk was a bit more, but it was still under $60.00 with S & H.
What sellers have to understand is the items they're selling, any collectable item is only valuable if its popular and a lot of people want it. If the item doesn't have those two factors going for it, you can forget trying to sell it for $5,000 to $4,000. GIJoe Extreme wasn't popular with a lot of Joe fans, and many fan don't even want to acknowledge its existence, plus the toy line was a complete failure. I'm one of the few members on this board that liked the cartoon and remember the toys fondly. Also the Thunderin Fury isn't as rare as we think it is. I remember someone posted a pic of the GIJoe Blockbuster tank for sell MIB on Ebay and in one of the photos they posted, they had a stack of Boxed Thunderin Fury tanks in the back ground, just sitting there, about eight or so staked one on top of each other. I'm still kicking myself for not saving the pic from that auction. Oddly the seller was an ex-Kenner employee. So I believe they're more out there then we realize. The ex employees likely brought some home, knowing the toy line was a failure, hoping that one day they could make some extra cash selling them as collectors items MIB on Ebay in the future. So there out there guys, we just have to not give in to these high prices when one shows up on Ebay. And I remember a few people who collected the Extreme line showing links to various auctions with cancelled figures, and vehicles. I've seen plenty of EXTREME toys @ closeout stores (late 90's early 2000's). More power to the seller on ebay. But I think we'll see more of these in the years to come as more and more old toy stock is found. Case in point the cancelled JP gijoes. Over on the JP board several carded samples hit and are now in the hands of collectors, so the long and short of it is if you look hard enough you can eventually find it.......It's also a matter of how much you want to pay!

Ouch. You could do a lot of other stuff with $4,000.
Maybe if the item was a cancelled item for the ARAH line (which I mainly collect) or even the 25th line, both which are popular with collectors, people would be willing to consider the pay top dollar. Quote:
I just sold mine a few months ago on ebay. It was opened but with the box and directions. Got like 25 bucks for it.
