Actually a pop up body. Does have a theoretical practical millitary purpose.
Rangefinding for Artilery strikes ,also Rolling the tank into a trench and elevating it so the tank can attack out of the hole. In theory this makes the tank less visible and less susceptible to personel operated Anti-Tank Grenade Launchers.

It looks pretty cool. I'd like to see some other views to get a better feel for it.

In theory this makes the tank less visible and less susceptible to personel operated Anti-Tank Grenade Launchers. It was dropped because it did not work with current military tactics. It would have been great during WWI, but our military tactics are all move while shooting when it comes to Armor now. A tank that sits still on the battlefield now, is a dead tank, even if just the gun pops up.

You do realize that's the Ripsaw built by Howe and Howe the newer version of which they're using in this film as the Tread Ripper right?
Also, the OP mentioned the cockpit not being attached. I'd be very surprised if they actually put a "glass" or clear canopy on this. I'd wager we're looking at the complete movie HISS there with a solid canopy like the PoC version. |

It's neat looking and will probably work well in the film, but nothing about it says HISS to me. Say sorry.

I was going by the (admittedly very brief) scene in the trailer with the HISS in. I thought I could make out some kind of cockpit/canopy on the tank that was side on in the middle distance. But, it was very small and it may have just been some form of marking/paint work. I need to see hi-def screen caps of that scene but can't find any.
