From the Cobra Special Forces Facebook page again.
http://www.facebook.com/?sk=lf#!/CobraSpecialForces Looks like a 'pre-production' version as there are no markings (there are in the trailer) and the canopy appears to be missing (or not built of transparent material, at least). I guess the toy has tried it's best to emulate this design with regards to the turret and such, but other than that there's little resemblance.

Yeah, I think the turret looks like the toy. Not much else, like you say mate.

Since this version of the tank was out during POC, I'd say the movie is trying its best to reproduce the toy. Close as possible without resorting to a complete CG version.

I'm pretty sure the Director said as much - that Hasbro dictated what vehicles were to be in the movie. I think normally it works the other way around, but since Hasbro owns the property and Paramount probably didn't care that much ....
Having said that, you can definitely tell that it is trying to be a realistic version of the movie toy. I guess it needs to be said - most toys with "action features" won't work in the real world. A pop-up body doesn't make sense - this is how you get a RoC! This looks something like an autoloader tank that I saw a few years back that was operated by a single soldier.

Cool pic! And I dig the real-world design on the HISS...I was worried that there would only be a CG version, but I'm happy to see that they actually make a physical version.
And despite the gripes issued by some in this thread, sadly, the toy version, while not perfect, comes the closest to anything in the first wave to being movie-accurate.

I do boggle at how cool a toy that echoed this design would have been, though.

I wonder if this was also built by Howe and Howe like the Ripsaw. It's a neat design and looks like it has some carrying capability (wonder if they based it off an old M-113). Maybe if the movie does well enough, Hasbro will work on bringing a more accurate toy version to the masses.
