My papa was in korea we just finished talking about evertyhting we went through . we are the only veterans left alive in my family of 136. its sad but i miss all of my uncles who served and today is a great day for us to reminisce. Im glad we have this day to remember the sacrifices some men&women made to allow us to live a free life.

My grandfather (my dad's father) served in the British military as a plane mechanic. I know he was stationed in Africa for a while before going to Europe. My wife's grandfather was in the US military - I think involved in DDay but I'm not fully sure (I need to ask her, although she may not know much because he would NEVER speak of it apparently). My uncle served in Vietnam.

My paternal Grandfather fought at the Battle of The Bulge, he was a machine gunner. He took shrapnel in the leg and was awarded the Purple Heart.
My Dad was a LRRP in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. My wife, two sons and I spent an hour in the rain this afternoon as our small town just built a Veteran's Memorial that was put together buy an Eagle Scout. The memorial was very nice and my Dad and Grandpa both have bricks with their names on them there. Definitely worth being wet and cold for a little while to watch the ceremony. An F-16 was supposed to fly over during the ceremony but due to the weather, it either couldn't be seen or couldn't make the flight. |

I come from a military family. My dad did 2 tours in Vietnam and retired as a Army Master Sgt. in 86. I spent 4 years in the Army, with a tour in Somolia in 93 and my sister spent 6 years in the Air Force and one of my younger brothers is a Sgt. in the Army, who already did 1 tour in Iraq.

Yes if you get the chance today or tomorrow, thank a vet, or say a prayer, anything, just give thanks! If anybody else has somebody who was in WWII please take the time to enter their name and Information for the Online Registry Memorial. http://www.wwiimemorial.com/default....&subpage=intro

I'm the youngest child of nine, and my Father is 50 years older than me! It's always been pretty cool to have that age difference. But he actually served in WWII. He was in the Army and stationed in the Philippines.
I got him a great "WWII Veteran" cap, with the Ruptured Duck emblem on it. He's been wearing it around and loves it. -Peter |

God Bless our Real American Heroes who serve or have served.
My Grandfather was also in WWII, and my Father was involved in Nam, Desert Shield & Desert Storm. Actually, I'm the only male on my Dad's side of the family that hasn't served. Can you say "black sheep"? I knew you could ;) [/mr.rogers] |
