Hmm... well the article talked mostly about games and puzzles so maybe the action figure department is safe...

170 people... that's a shame. Hope they find good opportunities out there.

Maybe tech is to blame? My two year old plays board games and puzzles on my iPad.

Games and Puzzles......I NEVER see kids playing with these anymore.the last games I personally bought was Clone Wars Connect 4 for my Godson.
now he plays that with his friends but I think its because they are SW nuts...... |

I think I would have titled the thread "Hasbro hit by greed", cause with what I am reading these past few months, it fits. The higher ups and stock holders were freaking out over missed profit predictions, and now Hasbro feels that cutting jobs will help balance things out. Shitty thinking and stupid of course, less jobs won't turn around your poorly selling products.
And all of this after Hasbro promised to CREATE jobs in order to get a massive tax cut.

There is a lot I find skeptical about in this report. Mattel beat out Hasbro? I'm certain it wasn't on the shoulders of Green Lantern or Matty Collector! We know that they cut the guy over Marvel Universe figures - which to me makes no sense as that is a really well received line that has been massively repainting the same figures over and over again in creative ways to create new characters. It sounds more like an excuse to cut some jobs to push revenues higher. Puzzles and games aren't likely to affect the bottom line like an AT-AT or Clone Transport Shuttle.
