Very intriguing info so far. It really sounds like IDW is taking a fresh perspective on the franchise. Also I'm loving the artwork.

One thing that it looks like from that cover is they are going for the all black costumes/uniforms look. That is an awesome cover and all, but i hope they don't go that route. I like that the Joes all had distinctive outfits. For instance, Scarlet looks like Black Widow...kinda boring, in my opinion. I want military-like or realistic uniforms and outfits, not super-hero outfits. Yeah, i know half the Joes don't have military approved outfits, but alot of the earlier ones at least had military elements. They got garish and outrageous in later years, but the early ones were subdued colors yet distinctive. They can do whatever in the movie, because movies have a different sensibility and visuals look different in live action. IN a comic book though, they are able to do original stuff that might not look good in real action. I am not a costume purist, but i would like nods to the original. This isn't to say that I am not excited about the Joe books coming out. Just a minor nitpick.

Anyone pay attention to the part where he said if it came down to direct open warfare, Cobra would wipe the floor with the Joes?
I LOVED THAT PART!! That always drove me crazy. Cobra was portrayed as this huge army. By sheer numbers alone they should have destroyed the Joes. Guerilla action is where it's at. Love it.

They should have 3 top dogs in COBRA introduced in the order of Destro, Cobra Commander, and Serpentor. That was the way their chain of command was introduced in the comic and cartoon and should remain that way. Also it doesn't necessarily have to be in the order of lowest to highest but first to last. IMO Destro would have to be introduced first bc he's the neutral arms dealer who initiates war in order to sell weapons to opposing sides of the same war. Now him being the hereditary leader of MARS and his own personal army (Iron Grenadiers) he'd probably be best as the introductory villain who is rich and can provide everything a terrorist organization like COBRA just getting started would need as far as weaponry, nuclear missles and vehicles. But one thing Destro doesn't have being that he's from the foreign land of Scotland is inside intel of the U.S. Military. He needs this intel from someone who has inside information or was an active soldier within the G.I. Joe ranks but who now has hatred for that same government in which he once served. That someone would become Cobra Commander whom Destro recruits to lead his new army of super soldiers, legions, factions, and hirelings called COBRA. Then as an act of discipline Serpentor is introduced as COBRA's emperor by COBRA's evil scientist Dr. Mindbender and creates Serpentor from a breakthrough in a cloning research experiment. Now I personally liked the whole cloning idea in the comic bc there has always been truth to cloning in real life. But instead of cloning him from the DNA of history's greatest leaders like in the original Marvel comic and cartoon which we all know is virtually impossible to do they should instead reimagine it in the IDW comic series and clone him with the DNA of the best active characters within the G.I. Joe/COBRA story arc from both good and bad perspectives. Which overall ends up making Serpentor more evil then good but nonetheless still unpredictable.

Thats's the biggest concern that stood out for me as well, but if they do something along the lines of Shin's idea we might be OK.

Joe's have always been quality over quantity.
I imagine they'd put up a hellva fight but Cobra would eventually swamp them with sheer numbers. |

I so hope there is no Serpentor in the new IDW comics. I have always hated Serpentor.

sounds cool. I like Cobra being a large force. I would like to see them based outside the US (like S.America or somewhere) and have them own (thru take-over) a small country that makes dealing with them that much harder... you know they're bad but can't go after the top dogs w/out it being an international issue, yet they're free to come to the US to do their dirty work... maybe a little too real-world, but I can't see Cobra being a huge army w/tanks and planes and soldiers and still have them operating out of smalltown USA (a la Springfield)
