I can't imagine why anyone would dislike double knees. Not only do the give you more range of motion, but the look good at ever position. Single jointed knees always have an ugly cut like all of the DC figures.
Double jointed knees are the best articulation advancement since swivel arm battle grip. After looking at the high Rez pics of the figures with the single joint knees, they look horrible. I take back what I said, double joints are the way to go. |

After reading almost every page in this thread, I can come to the conclusion that...you can't please everyone. Shocking, right?
I think this stuff looks great. Almost all of it. My initial fears about articulation have been put aside. I think it's just really well hidden on some figures. I look at something like Flint on the bike, and you can tell he's articulated. If they articulate a bike rider, we're good. What is more, they're articulated because they reused City Strike SE's legs on two of them. However, the Firefly apparently has new legs but less articulations. I think only the Shockwave HISS is a SDCC exclusive. The other one seems to be a regular retail release. Last edited by Kroenen; 02-04-2012 at 11:40 AM.. |

what happened to the screws on the inner thighs, that sucks for customizers. no way to take legs apart.

I thought that was what I was seeing, and was really hoping that wasn't happening. While everything looks sooooo good, why is Hasbro dropping the ball with the articulation? I could see it if it was some off brand short-timers line like Spider-Man or Captain America, but 30 years of G.I. Joe, improving year after year, just to take a giant step back. Really??
Which is the lesser evil? Besides, half of them are coming with core characters, guys we'll get 2-3 of in other venues anyway. It's hard for me to get all fussy over a 5 POA Snake Eyes or Cobra Commander when I'm pretty certain Hasbro will tag me for a better figure between single cards, multipacks and store exclusives.

hasbro needs a beatdown for taking the screws out of the inner thighs. its a big let down for the customizing world. new figures looked good too but of course theres always a catch. maybe by some miracle they'll decide to put them back in.

Its not that these figs are the same as ROC...its just that POC and 30th set a decent standard so I really had high hopes for the Retaliation release...especially with the apparent limited articulation...my opinion hasn't changed. I honestly can't say which figure I like in the lot...maybe jinx for the head sculpt? Lets face it...the color coding on the vehicles are for kid collectors...OMG...another version of SE/SS...zartan? CC?? I take back the peg-warming comment though...adult collectors clearly do not make up the majority of the buying population so Hasbro will get their movie hype sales...I really don't think the secondary market would be as liquid though. I think the retaliation figs represent a real cross road for the GI Joe brand...kinda like in the 90's with the eco warriors...this is when cost cutting beats brand continuity... Kudos to G Lucas' branding brilliance since the 70's...imagine he is re-re-releasing a prequel (now in 3d) to one of the greatest marketing case studies of all time...and the buyers (young and old) won't complain about limited articulation... |
