I'm still hopeful to see a MMO based around GI Joe. It could be the sandbox everyone's looking for if done right

It's probably just going to be some crappy iPhone game/PSLive game like that crappy Expendables 2 game.
In a perfect world, the guys who made Spec Ops: The Line would make a GI Joe game. That game was just generic enough that simpletons would play it, but the story was so damn deep... Last edited by AlecZeal1989; 03-10-2013 at 11:06 AM.. |

The ROC game was a huge flop, so a full release would have to go above and beyond to make any money.
On the other hand, however, a game was made for the movie "Battle: LA" that was a $10 downloadable console game and basically looked like an incredibly dumbed down version of the battlefield engine (the old one). Since EA actually owns the battlefield engine, if they made a short, to the point, $10-$25 downloadable tie-in they'd likely make more and see more success than the RoC game. |

If you guys want a cheap GI Joe game, maybe get Ace of Spades off Steam. I actually thought it was meant to be some indie GI Joe game the first time I saw it...

For one, this could very well be a mobile phone game. Don't get all happy just yet.
Two. A Joe FPS would suck. People want to see Snake-Eyes get all kung fu on someone. Third person shooter would be better design. EA owns DICE and thus the Frostbite engine. Wouldn't take much to slap some skins on some models and shove it out the door. If EA wanted to do something new (quit laughing) they'd do a BF 3 clone, multiplayer-centered, based on the toys and not realism. Environments would be backyards, parks, the living room. When a vehicle is hit, it breaks apart into pieces, not bursts into flame. A figure that gets hit has arms and legs flying everywhere. They could even sell expansion packs. Valor vs. Venom, Sigma 6, ARAH, etc. But no one would do that. |

Why was this necro'd?
Seriously, Hasbro snagged the stationary and game trademarks as a matter of business. They've pretty done the same for ALL their properties, regardless whether said merchandise ever appeared or not. At this point, a full featured game isn't happening, certainly not after a potential developer got an extra 9 months to polish the thing.
