Well, then why not put up a preorder? That way, like other sites, they can base the production numbers on the number of preorders they get for the subscription in a given time frame. The problem here is that no one can subscribe yet because there's nothing set up. I don't see why they can't start taking the subscriptions. It shouldn't be difficult. My feeling is that they're trying to gauge the demand and adjust prices accordingly.

And actually, if they said, back in April, "We don't see this thing starting up until early 2012," I would have been fine with that. More time to save some money. It's the false starts that make it seem like it's kind of a Mickey Mouse operation.
But listen, I'm really not trying to shit on the Club. For the most part, I like what they do and I'm probably still on board on the sub. My confidence has just been shaken a little bit. |

Oh, well I hadn't heard about the price range yet. At least not officially from the site. But didn't they say the first two figures would ship out a month or very shortly after the subscription period was over? I don't suppose that the figures could get manufactured, carded and shipped out that quickly. I don't know, maybe they can.

Hey I agree with u all about they did tell us too early. If I am not mistaking the price range was mentioned on their facebook page. I would have to read myself when the figures will start shipping after the subscription ordering period is over. It has been so long since i have read the terms and conditions and faq on their home page.

Ok i had to go read it, their website says that they will notify us when the first shipment is ready for shipping but it will be approx 8-12 weeks after the close of the subscription period.

Ok, so I looked at the faq again and it says:
"When you subscribe to the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Figure Subscription Service (FSS), you will receive 2 figures per month for six months. Upon completion of your subscription, you will receive the bonus secret 13th figure with your last shipment. We will notify you when the first shipment is ready for shipping but it will be approximately 8-12 weeks after the close of the subscription period." So 2-3 months after the subscription ends. Still...all the waiting has gotten me to reconsider getting this. I mean, I just got two 7-packs for $99 from BBTS, which is about $7 a fig, but if this set runs around $300, that's at least $23 a piece, more than triple what I'm getting with the 7-packs. And only about half of the figures are as interesting as the 7-packs. This isn't a very cost-effective way to do business but maybe the only way to get the more obscure, less popular characters. |
