It'd be nice if my stores got some new stuff in, because I sure would contribute my dollars. I hit my Target earlier and they had 4 Joes left, but they were just earlier Renegades stuff. I've seen a few kids looking at Joes in recent visits to Target.

Good to hear, hopefully its the hype of the new movie, mixed with the power of the 30th anniversary line!
If thats not exactly true, please don't tell me, I like my reason!

Are they sure they are not mistaking empty pegs that never got any Joe stuff at all for empty pegs that completely sold out of Joe stuff? Cuz around these here parts... except for Skystikers and Arctic Destros... Joe is dead.

This is going to sound smart-arsed, but I would believe it only because Joes are the only new figures I have been able to find since 30th started.
By that point Thundercats were pretty well done. Star Wars distrobution has been horrid everywhere I visit, Nothing beyond ATOC wave in most cases. Clone Wars are just as bad. Marvel Universe is so hit and miss, often I am shocked when I find a new one at retail. Transformers still haven't changed up since Dark of the Moon hit and I doubt they will move soon. Ect, Ect. So I find this to be a very believable statement just due to supply. Star Wars is an odd duck though. Many places HAVE received new Vintage collection waves, but Star Wars is one of the few lines that people still haunt Wal-Marts at midnight for. A lot of the "poor distribution" of Vintage Star Wars figures is simply the new figures selling out nigh-on instantly when they hit shelves...if they even hit shelves at all, leaving only the "refresh" figures behind. |

I believe Marvel figures are selling quite well - it is sold in so many formats (mastermold, gigantic battles, comic packs, 3 packs, Avengers with stands, singles, exclusive two packs, not to mention the movie figures, Spider-Man figures, SDCC and NYCC exclusives) that there is no way they would continue to proliferate the line like that unless it sold, and sold well.
Hasbro may be playing a little bit of a mind game with this release - telling people a toy is selling wildly before Christmas in order to create a desire for people to buy it. I am seeing Joes on the pegs randomly - and certainly vehicles - but with the figures that are left, it looks a little bit more like collectors rather than kids. I base that on classic figures left on the pegs - CC, SE, Duke, Arctic Destro - while army builders and unique figures seem to disappear (Firefly, Stalker). I am convinced that TFs was not a hot seller this year, even though the report says that. They are selling through right now due to the price drop at Toys R Us and previous sales at Target, but the movie figures didn't sell very well. Sadly, even the Generations figures aren't selling since they waited so long to put them on pegs - most people bought them on the secondary market from the West Coast. SW is just amazing. Unless you look closely it looks like it is not selling, but rather it sells through and they actually keep it restocked ... even at Walmart!

So I find this to be a very believable statement just due to supply. It always comes down to what region you're in. Thundercats - dead (Apparently Thundercats are region free ) Star Wars - Lots of Return and Revenge waves falling off the pegs here (I think that's one of the newest waves) Marvel Universe - in the last 2 weeks the pegs for MU at Walmart have jumped from 4-7 and in some rare cases 16 full pegs at one store. There are newer figures like Dark Magneto (or whatever you call black & purple Mags) and older figures we haven't seen in forever like Electro & bullseye) Transformers - I really don't follow them so I can only assume they haven't really changed much As far as Joes? I've only seen one case of wave 4 on the pegs and three cases of wave 3. In most cases all the new figures sell off leaving all those wave 1 & 2 figures. Target stores around here seem stuck with 3 full pegs of wave 1, 2 & older figures and haven't seen any wave 3 or 4 yet. I think if walmart (or any other store) got in as many cases of GI Joe as they did of MU, Pirates, Thundercats, etc... It might look as if no GI Joe is selling (or in the best case scenario, GI Joe might have a chance to be a huge seller this X-Mas) |

Just shows the power of having a cartoon on the air to advertise your goods...
