I would totally buy that this is happening. I just walked thru a TRU and the joe selection wasn't picked over at all... it was gone - vanquished - sold out. Meanwhile there's 8 pegs of bad articulation Green Lantern and a whole row devoted to hamster like little things that took over the entire department at one point.
GI Joe this holiday season has been a good seller in this area - makes me hopeful for a 2012 with some new and interesting product. With Retaliation and all I'm optimistic for the future of the GI Joe line. |

Among that company's best-sellers were some very old and recognizable names: Nerf, G.I. Joe, Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Pony

I would concur with what others here have said in my particular area...the Joes seem to be wiped out or at least cycled through quickly, mostly with figures, but the Skystriker does seem to be moving at TRU and Target, and yes, even the Bravos are looking thinner than they did a few weeks ago...the VAMP in particular is difficult to find.

I have no Joes at 3 Wal Marts and TRU, and like 4 at the Target store. Someone is buying all that Joe goodness and I am glad to see all those Wave 2 Renegades gone to make room for Waves 3 and 4 at some point!

The Skystrikers at the Target closest to my house have sold out. That was great to see because, previously they had been there since I bought mine in August.

i would agree with the article and here's why...
Kids are playing games like Call of Duty and Battlefield at an earlier and earlier age. My friends son turned 9 in november. All he wanted was "Military themed things". From COD video games, to nerf guns, to GI Joes, even the PTE things at big lots. Want to know why?? Kids know all about how we went in and got bin laden. They are not stupid. They know about Seal Team 6, and how badass our Spec Ops teams are.. My friends son wanted to be a Navy Seal for Halloween. GI Joe should really be a tribute to these brave men and women, and help build our youngsters into proud, smart, brave men and women of the future. In my opinion, forget the small amount of sales Joes would have in the Anti-American cultures. Make GI Joe the proud REAL AMERICAN HERO that it was in the 1980's. A little patriotism wouldn't hurt. |

Contrary to some peoples' seeming belief, it's not "USA vs. the World." Besides, aside from Canada I don't think Joe currently is sold anywhere outside the US at regular retail, is it? Either way, I hardly think Hasbro was trying to market G.I. Joe in any countries that are truly "anti-american" even when RoC was in full swing. |

Well, it's a good thing they canceled the Data-Viper because that figure would have been the teh end of deh line.
DAMMIT!!! I could have been hunting Data-Vipers along with Sci-Fi & Airtight right now. |

This is going to sound smart-arsed, but I would believe it only because Joes are the only new figures I have been able to find since 30th started.
By that point Thundercats were pretty well done. Star Wars distrobution has been horrid everywhere I visit, Nothing beyond ATOC wave in most cases. Clone Wars are just as bad. Marvel Universe is so hit and miss, often I am shocked when I find a new one at retail. Transformers still haven't changed up since Dark of the Moon hit and I doubt they will move soon. Ect, Ect. So I find this to be a very believable statement just due to supply. |
