The accelerator suits still aren't as far fetched as the B.A.T.S. were back in 1986. Or even now for that matter.

I am talking about the physical wear and tear of having your limbs/joints do 400% more then they were designed too like jumping through a moving train without a single injury? Mechanical failure hyper extending your knees, ankles or even back...there is a whole host of medical issues this kind of suit will cause it's wearer especially if it is over extendings ones self. A Kevlar vest is not the same thing (but what happns if the unit fails/gets hacked while bouncing through a minefield cause you think your super roboman?).
yes, in the real world mechanical failure is a threat. in movies, you don't worry about those things or else you couldn't possibly enjoy any action movie. |

FYI, darpa's suits obviously are designed as a battlefield application of the Japanese intended for people with failing health. It's being adapted for military use but in the future could develop into different models depending on the task. For the last 25 years, they've been trying to solve urban combat mainly because of the dependence on the human soldier for movement and transport. Tanks are virtually worthless in future urban conflicts.
About 15 years ago, they were to push research into tanks similar to the ones used in Ghost in the Shell for these reasons but nothing ever came from it. As for 500 degrees of separation. This is a toyline that still makes characters who use flamethrowers which haven't been used in 40 years, while throwing out figures of guys that fly. Reactive armor is the one I'm wondering about. I thought reactive armor was for tanks to protect its occupants from delayed explosions. Essentially, its low explosives on the outside that detonates missiles before they can penetrate. How the hell is that safe to have a human running around with it. |

IDK why there is all this bitching about accelerator suits from ROC, when we have the completely awesome trailer for Retaliation. LOL! One thing was nice to see in the trailer was Cobra troops carrying actual firearms and rifles and not those pulse weapons they had in ROC. I dug it the pulse weaponry, but I did wanna see a more militarized version of the Cobra army.
Watching this trailer is sooooo like watching porn! LMFAO!!!! And I love porn!!! LMFAO!!!!

Could be they are referring more to kinetic energy absorbtion for the "reactive" part but that realy isnt reactive, just defenisve. Kinda like the stopping power of a kevlar vest, maybe the reactive amror is some nanomite infused gelatin that can take kinetic energy strait out of a bullets impact and distribute it through the rest of the amror or some shat...who knows...I know its not the same as tank reactive plating because...well thered be nothing there to protect once it went off :0
Non-newtonian fluids become stiff on impact. There's no explosives involved.

Nice. I didn't realize there were other types of RIA other than explosive reactive armor.
