Brink sucked really bad. I hope that if they do make the game, that they don't slap the G.I. Joe brand on an already pre existing game.
Quote from article: "The game will be pretty much ready "once a collection of well-known characters are laid over the top of an even more polished Brink engine," said a source." and "If re-skinning the Brink engine is as simple of the source makes it sound, this could be done and dusted to tie-in with the movie in summer 2012." In other words! Let's slap a G.I. Joe label on an already craptastic game and sell it to the console masses!! http://www.nowgamer.com/news/1135223...i_joe_fps.html Brink Metascores: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/brink Battlefield had a mod years back. gijoe sky striker skin for f-14 tomcat aix2 mod Old forum: Last edited by nerdsgetchicks; 11-19-2011 at 07:47 AM.. |

omg....first-person-shooters are the dumbest laziest games ever made
GI Joe is visually one of the coolest things things ever created and you have to think about this-we collect action figures seeing the entire character in combat is what we are used to and have grown accustomed to..fps is going to alienate a lot of us who like to see what we are. yes I'm directly relating playing with toys to playing a video game Joe should be a massive multiplayer or a sandbox or a something like drake or assassins creed but with fkn ninjas and sh!t |

Don't get too excited!!
Seems it isn't confirmed or even a correct article. 11/17/2011 Splash Damage working on new game based on ‘major entertainment brand’ | PC Gamer http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...ame-for-disney UPDATE THE SECOND – It seems all this fuss has been over nothing, with Splash Damage’s Paul Wedgewood tweeting: “We’re not working with Disney. We’re not building a pop culture IP. We’re only using BRINK tech for BRINK updates atm.” Also: Via Twitter PaulWedgwood Paul Wedgwood Fun watching Industry Gamers / Eurogamer post massively inaccurate stories, just because we refused to comment And why should we? https://twitter.com/#!/PaulWedgwood PaulWedgwood Paul Wedgwood Fun watching Industry Gamers / Eurogamer post massively inaccurate stories, just because we refused to comment And why should we? 17 Nov Favorite Retweet Reply JohnnyCullen Johnny Cullen @ @PaulWedgwood Wait, are you saying the IG piece on you guys is wrong? 17 Nov in reply to ↑ @PaulWedgwood Paul Wedgwood @JohnnyCullen Yes. We're not working with Disney. We're not building a pop culture IP. We're only using BRINK tech for BRINK updates atm I would say a Star Trek or maybe Dr. Who in the works. Dr. Who is getting a major motion film and an MMORPG. It has also been around for a LONG time. Last edited by nerdsgetchicks; 11-19-2011 at 08:33 AM.. |

Brink got lousy reviews so i guess we will be getting another bad GI Joe game if thats what theyre making. a winning formula for a GI Joe game would Valkary Chronicles. a turn based strategy game. this would allow you to choose up to 12 joes on your team. allow use of vehicles. give you more of a sense of playing gi joe.
i dont know bout you guys but when i played gi joe as a kid i didnt just use one guy. this will also allow a huge roster of playable characters, the use of special skills, huge maps of familiar areas, the abiity to equip your guys with different weapons. so much could be done with a turn based strategy for this series. The first GI Joe game back on the NES had RPG elements and were actaully pretty good games. A GI Joe FPS will be very lousy and will leave alot of great stuff out. not to mention since it will be rushed out will have lousy controls, shitty lvl design, shitty graphics. lets be honest thoughs of you that actually know games. It takes time to develop a decent FPS. it can not be pulled off in 6 months. dont think im hating on FPS. thats a majority of what i play. nobody likes a shitty FPS. what would you rather play a game that was rushed out in 6 months, or an amazing game like Battlefield 3 or MW3.

I'll take an FPS over the ROC crap we got last time around, and the I like the style of Brink characters. Very animated, very clean. Personally, I'd prefer more of an adventure game like Uncharted or Prince of Persia, but the FPS is a more likely sell and is nothing I'd run from.

Personally, I think they should make 2 types of games:
1) Over the shoulder view shooter 2) Command & Conquer type RTS( Just imagine being able to play as either Joe, Cobra or the IG's, being able to build the various troop types, vehicles, bases) this would be killer. |

They should make a Call of Duty Joe style. Realistic with realistic weaponry and add ons etc. etc.

FPS would be horrible. Quick, think about what the main character you use in Battlefield, Rage, Doom (or any other FPS for that matter) looks like. Yeah nobody cares or remembers. Throw some blue troopers in Call of Duty and I could convince anyone that it's a GI Joe game. Nobody can see the main character in an FPS, that's why they wouldn't work with a Joe game. Wouldn't you rather actually SEE Snake Eyes running around instead of just an arm? Not to mention part of the fun of Joe is the different types of characters. There wouldn't be a way to show off someone like Snake Eyes, Scarlet's martial arts ability. FPS are already overdone and would really do nothing to market the characters, which are the real reason we love Joe.

Yeah, I saw this rumor a few days ago, but elected to not talk about it, mostly because it just seems a bit too arbitrary.
The original source even refers to the owner of the IP as a "media company" and in my opinion, that doesn't fit Hasbro's description. Still cool to talk about and hypothosize. I'm hoping they do SOMEthing video game wise for the sequel, but I strongly doubt that they will. |
