Ok, so we all know that Airedevon is an extreme super G.I.JOE collector and has a collection that rivals the best of them, if not the best (IMHO). We also know that she is writing a book (actually a 7 volume set of books!) all about collecting 3 ¾” Joes that will include some MASSIVE details about each and every item ever released. She is also self publishing the book for the most part to ensure the book gets done and doesn’t get edited down by a publisher (much like George Lucas protected Star Wars so it could be released as his true vision and not Hollywood’s version of his vision).
Knowing this, and knowing how long it has taken Aire so far to get this book done, I wanted to put together a thread where much of the information she has posted is shared in one spot, but mainly as an encouragement “e-card” to her that she can use as an inspiration to keep going with the book and get to the end of this long journey before she goes crazy. I know the job of putting together the book has been a long hard road and I know she HAS to have contemplated quitting at times (wouldn’t anyone?). But with some encouragement and well wishes from us, we can help her re-fuel and finish up what will probably be the end-all be-all collecting guide that sets the standard for any other guide (across all collection types too!). I know Aire would refute that last comment and play down the impact of the book (that’s the kind of person I know her to be), but just wait to see what I list below and you’ll see simply based on the knowledge, pictures and Collectable Spectacle videos we have seen, that she knows A WHOLE BUNCH about Joes and when she puts that into a book, LOOK OUT! So, join me in offering Aire some simple words of encouragement, and in my case gratitude (I will never ask someone to offer gratitude especially if they don’t feel the need). With this I am sure we can give Aire a great big boost to complete something we all have wanted and cannot wait for. Thank you Aire for taking on this G.I.NOURMOUS task! I have seen some GREAT stuff during my visits! Keep it up and you can soon be done and getting back to a normal life! And a normal house too! NOTE: I hate having to say this part, but I do know there are a few negative ninnies out there. Please if you do not have anything nice to say, do not post it here. PM me separately if you’d like. I’ll talk to you. Let’s keep this thing positive!!! YO JOE!!! …and… YO AIRE!!!

Here is a link to Drunknmunky's interview with Aire just a short time ago where some great tidbits were revealed about the book and some great insight on how Aire came into collecting...
Drunknmunky interview with Airedevon Also, Here is a quote from that interview with the gory details we all wanted to know... Quote:
This book project has been the source of both a lot of joy and frustration for me. Joy because I really enjoy putting it together - frustration because so many of the tasks involved keep progress going at a snail's pace. I feel like this should have been released already!
It is a book set really. There are 7 volumes. All volume cover both US and international releases. Volume 1 - loose figure guide 1980's Volume 2 - loose figure guide 1990's Volume 3 - loose figure guide 2000 to 2012 Volume 4 - loose vehicle guide 1980's Volume 5 - loose vehicle guide 1990's Volume 6 - loose vehicle guide 2000 to 2012 Volume 7 - history and geography of Joes The volumes also cover a lot of other information (especially the 90's volumes because there is more room :-) So, Sgt Savage, Extreme, Sigma 6 both sizes, Mortal Kombat, etc are included. As to when it will be released... I keep thinking it is around the corner, but as you may know, my health is not good, and there are sometimes long stretches when I am laid up.... and when I can get around, I am having more and more difficulty moving boxes to get to things to photograph etc... Not to mention constant battles with lighting for the photographs - But I am plodding along - I have not given up at all - and hopefully, some day soon, it will become a reality. I apologize to anyone who has been looking forward to this. I really am working as hard as I can.

Thank you Aire for everything you have done for me (personally and in the collecting realm). You have given me so much I could never repay you! You have such a wonderful and supportive family. I know you can't wait for this book to be completed so you can spend more time with them. You are my best friend and I can't wait to see where the future takes our friendship! Thank you again for all you do for me, collectors and the history books. You are archiving a piece of history and for that I truly thank you.
YO AIRE!!!

I'll chime in here as well. Having met Aire and spending time with her at meets, cons and her house, I appreciate everything she is doing. Her collection is that of legend and her work can only match that. Having a few pieces in my collection and not knowing what pieces I was missing, cause there isn't a guide in existence that actually shows several of the small pieces by themselves and not attached to the vehicle will help me greatly. I discussed this at her house and having had a tiny peek of some of the work and it being the exact thing I was referring to felt great.. So if that one look can get me excited and say "So that is what that part looks like" then I can't wait for the whole set.. It will help answer several questions about parts, figures and accessories.
My hats off to you Madam. I wish I lived closer so i could give you more of a hand, even if it's just to move boxes for you. Hope to see you at the next Con if it happens to be here in Texas. Sooner if we can actually get a meet together.

Texas sure has some serious Joe fans. I'm looking forward to getting the whole set of books. This is a project that is worth waiting for.

Aire, you are a Goddess among dorks! Thanks for sharing your collection. So many people with rare items and big collections are really secret about their stuff, but you let us share with you, even if only through Youtube videos and the random post here and there. So I humbly thank you for being awesome.

I have never met her but I did have a discussion of GIJOE via internet, about some of the history of the term GIJOE, I found a WW2 documentary video where Ike used the term GIJOE, she hadn't seen before and immediately shared it with her.
She was very easy to talk to and down to earth. Aire devon is the Steve Sansweet of GIJOE collectors. hats off to her for taking on such a monumental task. I know I for one would be very interested in volume 7 for sure. Even Steve Sansweet didnt go to such lengths for any of his books.

I've seen random posts here and there of the knowledge she'd shared over the few years I've been around. Plus knowing DrunknMonkey. Awesome tanker. That interview was great! Aire, feel free to drop me a line anytime if you want insights of any nature, i'll be glad to help! Not sure how much assist I can offer, but give my best shot!
Thank you for having such devotion to doing this large task. May it benefit everyone, and refuel the Joes as well! Will you be planning to include some kind of a price guide ? Yes, I know they tend to change day to day. but a generic might help those looking to complete some collections, without breaking the bank for plastic people! Again, from my family to yours, Thank you for undertaking this. Cannot wait to see what becomes of it! Best wishes!! YO JOE!!!!
