Looks like somebody is making customs of the custom Cobra H.A.T.E. from the unofficial GI Joe Canadian Convention.

For an unofficial convention they seemed to get some decent guests and even Hasbro to show. Not too bad considering.
These actually look pretty poorly done too. You could get one made yourself for much less. |

Given that the Canadian convention is approved by Hasbro, I don't think you can say it is "unofficial". Hasbro themselves have attended these conventions and even helped supply materials to the group running it to make the exclusives.
On this knock off HATE tank, flat out it looks like shit. That is clearly paint they used on it and there are uneven applications of it throughout. Really looks like fingerprints or something. The stickers look like they were printed on that transparent paper sticker sheets. Those stickers are terrible for GIJoe vehicles I know from first hand experience. The colors will fade in no time and they will start to peel off the surface eventually as well. They look cloudy right from the get go. If someone was looking to cash in on the popularity of the HATE tank, they failed. No way will those sell for the price he is asking. |

Uhh, that first pic is of an actual hate tank. The repros are the second pic, they don't have decals.

Deceptive. Ok so I stand corrected on the stickers. I guess those are the originals but sure come off looking like reprints against the chrome. Still, the paint looks terrible.

These look like they were done using vintage tanks, hence the textured look of the chrome. The HATE tanks were done using modern 25th tanks, they didn't have the same texture, they were smoother IIRC. Plus the black treads and turret. Honestly, i have a real HATE tank, it is the only Canadian piece I own, and I am super happy to see more chrome tanks available, whatever the circumstances. It is a great idea.

Destro, you're hilarious. You can't be bothered to front page anything about the second biggest OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED BY HASBRO GI Joe Convention on the planet, yet you front page this and try to pass them off as an unofficial convention. Don't take statement A) "these figures are not official", and take that to step B) therefore, the convention is not official. Do you know of any other GI Joe conventions where Hasbro sets up a booth each year other than those two? Not only sets up a booth, but debuts finished product at those shows as well? Oh that's right, you wouldn't even front page finished product reveals from Canada Con this year either.
But this knockoff, of a 'custom' in your eyes is front page news. You guys handle yourselves pretty professionally everywhere else in regards to the GI Joe community, yet you let personal bias over one guy who works with a lot of other people to run a major con get in the way of reporting the news. Too bad. |
