Todd has an account with Hasbro. Itz not like he went out and just snagged these off shelves to sell. Todd has some of the fairest pricing and fastest shipping in the hobby. If Todd was a slimy scalper... then 200+ people wouldn't make their way to Kokomo for free food and drinks and fun at his store for Coil Con every year.
He wouldn't be endorsed by every level of collector from old school to nu skool. There's no $11 Hazard Vipers around my house + gas. The math is easy. He has to add taxes and he's gotta make his end on things AND he's got ebay fees. TRY AGAIN. |

I was there for Coil Con this year and was very impressed with the store. Just PACKED with toys new and old, and pretty good prices. I've got a toy store that I frequent in nearby South Bend, but this place beats them on volume and selection. I'm definitely stopping in to drop a few bills next time I'm passing through!

If he has an account with Hasbro, then he doesn't have to mark up the figures that high. Figures are still $7 in my area and I can drive to 2 wal marts, 2 targets and a TRU for less then $3, so I'll just wait for them to hit the stores here. I'm sure he's a great guy and all, but he has some of the highest prices I've seen on Ebay. Looks like a really cool store and would love to go there someday!
"High prices" are circumstantial. What you consider high prices might be considered fair to someone else. There's a really odd flux and mutation for GI JOE right now especially on ebay, where price is concerned, as it is. Stir that up with supply and demand... oh yeah and his rent... oh and the fact that this is his bread and butter. He can't NOT sell toys and hope that the linens in aisle 19 make up for it. Comparing this family owned and family run independent toy store with two dozen sky strikers hanging from the ceiling and Hazard Vipers for sale to the giant corporate chain of Targets that I get my groceries and household cleaners at that do NOT sell Hazard Vipers? That's silly. I'm in the third largest city in the U.S. and I can't find anything but POC Duke and Jungle-Viper. IF that. I just found out one of our Wal-Marts does NOT carry Joes. On my drive down to Kokomo for Coil Con this year I stopped at every Wal-Mart on the way... NO JOES. Got to Kokomo... and there were Joes. If it wasn't a 4 hour drive for me I'd be shopping at Kokomo for Joes because I certainly can't shop around here. So... there's ebay. And I'd rather support a community member like Todd. So there's that too. I think you definitely need to go check out the shop. Once you experience the shop and the owners... everything else makes sense. It's the most welcoming atmosphere and if the money he makes from toys makes that happen. So be it. Don't get me wrong, I understand what you're saying... I just think there's more to it than that.

Ok. as far as the prices issue..have you guys ever been to a game store, dvd store or a music store or other specialty store and looked at their everday prices...they are higher than Walmart or Target,,,but you can find things that Wally nor target will carry..One of my fave chains to shop: FYE:: Suncoast(movies) and various other games and music stores..but because of the mentality of "I can buy that new movie at Walmart for $2 cheaper than here" FYE and other specialty stores or going away...soon the only places we will be able to find the odd movies or music will be online only.. SSSSOOOOO be nice to your specialty stores and be glad they are here, the items you see in them may be the ONLY time you see some of them! |
