I got a good feel about the film despite Marlon Wayans being in the film. i know it just a poster but the look on his face is encouraging to me.

Well, I think that's a silly comparison, because Ripcord was never a major player in the cartoon series. In fact, I can only remember seeing him in 3 or 4 episodes, even then those were bit roles. If they had cast Wayans to play Duke or Tyra Banks to play Scarlett, then your example would make sense. But, as it stands, Ripcord is just not nearly important enough to generate this much "cyber-outrage."

I actually didn't recognize Wayans at first in that image. So that gives me hope that his personality won't hijack the character too much.

See, I disagree with that too... we still have Destro Being James Destro Macullen, we still have his ancestor being wrongfully imprisoned for a crime and Destro wearing a mask to honor that (all this can be inferred from Destro's unofficial toy list), and we still have him as a Scottish Arms dealer who works for Cobra.

We still have Storm Shadow and Snake-eyes as sword brothers who trained under the Hard Master, we still have them being put on opposite sides of the Cobra/Joe War.

Right there I think we've got more linkage to the GI Joe lore then Bayformers did. I say give the movie a chance.

But then of course, that begs the question of which "canon" are we talking about. The Sunbow cartoon? The DIC cartoon? The comic book? The action figure filecards? Because we all know how consistent all of those were in the 1980s. :rolleyes:

well those 2 things a joe movie does not make. Joe was always driven by the characters and their origins and for them to make such drastic changes to them and plus throwing them in Sigma 6 (probably the worst incarnation of joe ever.) styled powersuits just screams that this movie will be as great as street fighter with van damme.

It already sounds better than the G.I. joe cartoon movie with Cobra La. That movie sucked.
