Where do you get the idea that collectors wouldn't buy new characters?

G.I. Joe Q&A – August edition | The Fighting 1:18!
Got answers at the fighting118th today. I couldn't let the Data Viper go. Their answer was somewhat promising. |

TNI: It was recently announced the new Data Viper figure which was shown at Joecon this year has been canceled. Is it possible we might see this figure released through means other than mass-retail such as the new figure subscription service coming to the Collector Club, or is the figure totally off the table? Hasbro: As of right now the figure is off the table. That's promising? You my friend are quite the optimist. |

I hope you are right.
It sounds like a polite way of saying "Quit asking us this question!" I don't see why they don't release it as a "Deluxe" figure like we have seen in all of the Marvel movie lines so far. It would make it pricey to army build them, but something is better than nothing. |

You don't need a huge army of them so the price would make it perfect to have a good squad. Who knows, maybe it will slip into the movie line somewhere. *gazes forward daydreaming* I know some could care less about this figure but this is really an awesome attempt by Hasbro to try something new even if it is canned (?). I'd hope they can break outside the box once in a while. This figure could be similar to the drones from Iron Man also I would think. |
