I'd like to think this shows a real excitement from Paramount about the movie. This is a great weekend for a release - right before 4th of July. It will be interesting how Hasbro works this with the anniversary figures and vehicles. Will they postpone the anniversary until the next year? (25th went longer than a year by packaging.) I wonder if this will effect Renegades too. I could see them getting the "Resolute" treatment - a delayed 7 pack (I know, there are more than 7 figures but you get the idea).

That was my first thought too. I would have liked to see GI Joe in theaters holiday 2012 or summer 2013 (switch places with Star Trek) so the 30th line would have a fair shot at retail. I am excited to see the movie figs., though, with Jinx, Flint, Lady Jaye, and Roadblock. I really think Roadblock in a DJ likeness would rock!!!!!

I just noticed something - it will be out for about a week before the new Spider-Man. Thus, that means it will have a huge drop in week 2. Hope it makes a killing that first week!

That's easier now that the Marvel Universe movies are Disney.

For crying out loud people, they're not going to cancel the product that's supposed to come out between now and Christmas. |

That's not true. Only 4 Renegades figures are scheduled for this year. And only Stalker and the Hazard Viper are scheduled this year.
The rest were all listed as Spring when displayed at SDCC. Granted, we might get an assortment popping up at the end of the year. But a handful of figures might have their fate delayed due to movie stuff getting bumped up. Hasbro would be smart to bump up some of the movie stuff and have it on shelves for the movie's release. They don't need to have as much stuff as they did for Rise of Cobra. They might need to spread out the movie stuff's release pattern a bit. Hasbro will also have Avengers and Amazing Spider-Man stuff to put resources toward for the summer. This year they were more strapped with Thor, Captain America, and Transformers 3, so they might be able to put a nice effort into a Joe 2 merchandise push. I'm excited to see designs for the movie and potential toys. I think they'll have learned from the first movie in both areas. |
