And I just wandered back in here to be happy about Joseph Mazzello again.

Awesome news. We are getting Timmy from Jurassic Park. I have yet to see The Pacific.
I remember getting the action figure of his character from JP and thinking that it looked nothing like him. Now looks like we will see him in plastic form once again. |

Dozens and dozens of popular Joes from ARAH comics and 'toon and they choose a "Sgt Savage" character? Mouse?
Looks like they will succeed in making another franchise - wounding BOMB. Another crapfest I can skip. At the rate the geniuses at Hasbro are going, at least all those pricey vintage and exlusive items will likely become more affordable over the next few years...

One new character vs. 5 newly-appearing "classic" characters. But that one new/obscure character is surely going to destroy the movie without any regard for the script or performances involved. Only in Fanboy-delusion land. Last edited by Jmacq1; 07-28-2011 at 10:04 AM.. |

I never watched Sgt. Savage so I do not know the Mouse character, however if they are actually doing their research on the whole Joe universe then why is anyone complaining about it? I for one am very excited to see a few new characters added to the mix. I really hope they add Blackout to the Cobra lineup, though I seriously doubt that will ever happen. :(
Having a character that isn't so ingrained in people's memory gives a series creator so much freedom. Like how Lt. Stone in G.I. Joe Extreme, Lt. Stone in Sigma Six and Sgt. Stone in The Rise of Cobra were very different characters. But since Stone wasn't a Real American Hero character people didn't really complain about the changes. Realistically there is no way any movie could ever work in every last GI Joe and Cobra character I've ever enjoyed so I just don't have any feeling of a new character has somehow robbed me of a classic character. |

I was worried when the news hit here about a casting call for a young actor to get the youth appeal in the movie.
Since they're getting this 28 year old with proven acting capabilities instead -- I'm totally cool with it! |

Given that probably 95% of the existing characters never had anything more than a 100 word filecard to sum up their entire existence, I have no problem at all with the movie people making up their own characters to fit into the movie. If comic writers or cartoon writers can, why not the movie writers?
