Too bad these actors don't have a twitter or facebook account where they would happily take advice and comments from fans. I would hate to see this film flop like the first one.
They have a chance to do it right now and it seems all of the film producers and actors realize this. If only now they would take advice from those who love the subject rather than those who are paid to try to redirect the brand to where they think it should go. For example, has anyone watched the Shout! featurettes on the Joe DVDs? They have some interviews with some of the flunkie marketing and Joe Dept Supervisors. Some of these people have no idea what they are talking about. I will dig up the woman tonight. She is the marketing PR person. She is this bubbling happy PR sound bite but she doesn't understand a thing about what she is trying to describe. I would give anyone on the tank more time than this paid flunky. After RoC, I think everyone on the set is like this. I hope Chu is different since he has opened a twitter for this purpose. |

Commercially it was actually rather successful. Worldwide Box office takings were over $300m USD. At a cost of $175m USD. This does not include DVD sales, rentals or related merchandise. reference: http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=gijoe.htm That does not constitute a flop. I understand that it was not to your liking, and you want the sequel to better suit your taste, and I sympathise. Last edited by Exciter; 07-22-2011 at 07:06 AM.. |

How will it have different appeal? I don't think there is any coming back after the CC/Duke/Baroness fiasco. Destro being CC's involuntary lapdog, the Viper legion being drones due to nano infusion. What happened? Did CC find some excessive resources to incent Vipers into signing up this time from his jail cell? Or will he still be administering nano-injections........ I guess all we can do is wait and see.

I don't think it's fair to say that the film flopped...
While not a flop on the scale of Superman Returns or Green Lantern, I think the film actually did very well on DVD (same can be said of Van Helsing, which was said to have been a weak performer at the Box office), and I strongely suspect strong DVD sales/rentals gave Paramount the incentive to do a sequel. I think Hasbro is hoping for something that will appeal to a younger crowd like Transformers did, and thus incite toy sales (which WERE quite lacking at retail with the last one)

Hmm he fell into the icy cold water after SE kicked his arse and we assumed he wasn't dead! a 100 miles below the icy surface he must have escaped the situation to return for G.I.JOE 2, I hope Stormy has a much better return than his first impression.

Hopefully they reduce the GQ Storm Shadow vibe he was giving off in ROC and go full-on bada** ninja for Joe 2.
