Well, I think he means there are currently other 4" military lines out there. There have been for years. 21st Century, BBi, Unimax (Bravo Team), Our War. They're kinda niche even though major retailers have carried them to varying degrees of success.
I do think no-name 4" police officers, firemen, and paramedics might also be a nice niche for some company to try and capitalize on. I would have liked for Unimax's Ages of Action line to have gotten mass-market distribution. There are so many other historic figures they could have done (Spartans as an example). Cowboys/gunslingers seems like an untapped product line as well. Regarding the 12" Joes. I think this kind of line is just an odd sell in this market. They're aimed at kids, yet they're $20+. I would have preferred for them to bring back Sigma 6 as a supplement to the 4" stuff. S6 started doing more realistically-styled uniforms at the end of its run which could have been continued. Their cartoonish look might appeal more to kids as well. They're smaller than 12" figures as well and could probably be handled easier by kids. |

once again, you have no idea what you are talking about, and you spew your nonsense with such delusional passion. please show me the no-named, "realistic" military function/civil service figures Hasbro has been making for years in modern 4" G.I. Joe form you claim in your post Hasbro has been making for years.
we're waiting. still waiting. fact is, you don't know what any person, child or adult, wants to play with or finds exciting. "Army Heavy Gunner" is a repack of the Army Ranger Saw Gunner (2003). The only thing "new" is the poor quality ACUs they dressed him in. "First Responder Firefighter" is a direct repack of the Fire Fighter also of 2003. The Policeman with K9 is a mish mash of other figs from 2003-2005. The Airborne soldier is semi new, but basically a rehash of the paratrooper from 2003. The Rapid Strike Commando is another mish mash... If Hasbro wants me to take their 12" offerings seriously they need to offer some exciting weapons and gear to go with it. We had some neat gear that came out 2004-2006, but it dried up. Now Hasbro stirs the pot of reheated accessories and has the gaul to charge $20 for a $12.50 (at best) figure. If you won't give me new accesories, you better load me up on cool gear to get me ready to drop my hard earned scratch. |

...G.I. Joe is a bigger brand than any of those other toys (Forces of Valor, BBI, etc). And generic soldiers/civil service is exactly what G.I. Joe is...in its origin...making those types of figures in the modern 4" form with (M.E.) quality...could be the very thing that captures the attention of consumers...
Action Soldier Action Marine Action Sailor Action Pilot Versions of Action Team's OG 4 members, alone, can make a few more waves. And, can be an army-builder's dream - 1. Dress uniforms, 2. Battle dress uniforms, 3. Ceremonial uniforms 4. Academy uniforms 5. Color Guards with flags, etc. Adding to that, chase variants of Hispanic and/or African American versions (originally packed 1 per 6 figures, back in the day) is another thing collectors + army-builders can get. Derryl Depriest is a collector / Hasbro worker, now on the Joe Team, who maybe into making such a cool thing happen. He did a fine job bringing back the Classics + more. I only hope Depriest does not forget 4 inch collectors (again) who'd otherwise love to see his fine work on the Classics or Modern 12-inch Joes; grace the 4 inch format. Here's hoping we see such cool figures, glimmering on waves of gold-carded 4 inch figures, for the 50th Anniversary... Last edited by Tuskegee Joe; 06-24-2011 at 01:59 AM.. |

I like that Soldier. Someone here showed a UK form of the twelve inch one. I wouldn't mind getting a few of them and having a coalition diorama set up. I like twelve inch. In particular the Doughboy that was released by Hasbro in 00-01. I'll be all for the Action Set element that they did for 3 3/4 in 1990's in modern Era form. At least if it's not 125 to pick up. Okay here is a picture i may have mistaken the heavy machine gunner as tracker kwinn but i could have sworn i saw a picture of a 12' figure with shorts and a big machine gun. Any way here is the picture of an e-mail i just received. i also Noticed the GICC has a preorder for a para-trooper.
