No Tatum Channing or Channing Tatum (whichever way it is).

I agree with reboot idea. Ditch the kid friendly Saturday afternoon cartoon come to life feel that the first movie was attempting to evoke and go for a more mature (perhaps not R, but hard PG-13 at least) look at the Joe universe.
For God's sake nab the guys who created GI Joe: Resolute and have them help, because they definitely know the makings of a great Joe movie. If only they had been involved in making the first movie! But anyway, this concept can totally work, but like Transformers and other similar movies, keep what works about the cartoon and simply 'realify' that. Take a page from Michael Bay's book and don't be afraid to have core characters like Duke, Scarlett, et. al. in their more cartoon-like costumes, so that we recognize our fav' Joes. And...as others have said...please keep the rubber suited Snake Eyes out of this movie! That version sucked and with all due respect to Ray Park, he's simply too short and stout for this character to make him work as a lithe ninja for me. Flame me all you want, but Ray Park is not right for this role! And this too! It can't be said enough that what works best about Joe is when there is verisimilitude to the military angle coupled with a slight eye towards future tech. Nothing too crazy here (save that for the toys), but just over the edge enough to where you know this is the military, but guys who have access to some really cool equiptment! Part of what was cool about playing with GI Joe toys as a kid is how everything interacted. The figures had cool vehicles but the first movie didn't. We need VAMPs, we need Skystrikers, we need the Dragonfly, we need Hiss Tanks!
Plus it isn't how much you use somebody, it is how you use them. They just have to be at the right place at the right time. Firefly sabotaging something, Wild Bill flying the team in on a mission and stuff like that. All it takes is showing the right person at the right place. |

I think this is a damn good sign. It shows he cares. He wants to make the movie we want. The other guy wouldn't do this.

Ditch the awful black rubber jumpsuits..Especially SE. Give him black BDU's and ditch the lips...come on! New characters, Gung-Ho, Flint, Beachhead, Stalker. New actors. Give it more or a live action feel like blackhawk down or Battle of LA. Maybe a bit cartooney like The Mutant Chronicles with better effects. Large armies battling it out! Make it epic goddamn it! it's Gi Joe!

Get rid of bs attempts at stupid humor, just focus on making a good movie and don't let canonical stuff get in the way. Movies like Iron Man and Batman Begins show that you can have your own take on the brand without slavishly sticking to what came before. Breathe new life into the movie but still have it come off recognizable as GI Joe.

I think this is a great sign that Chu actually cares about doing right by the fans. I guess it's time to take to Twitter, kids!
