As soon as somebody besides Larry Hama starts running G.I. Joe, it immediately feels cheap, contrived, and dirty to me.
G.I. Joe reinstated started off alright, but immediately took itself as seriously as the Hama-verse, and I thought they should have stayed closer to the Hama-verse before introducing all their own ideas, which should have been done slowly. ...But, I'm a picky bitch sometimes, so, eh.... |

I for one thinks that as long as larry hama wants to do anything with gijoe. I'm all for it. Even though I truely enjoy idw take on the joes. Larry's books will always be frist in my heart. Not just joe he had an awesome run on wolverine too. Keep doing what u do mr. Hama and don't worry bout the haters.

I hate to say this because for years I have thought about asking Larry Hama certain questions about where he got his influences for GI JOE and when I got the chance I was disapointed. I also had the chance to ask Hama some questions about where he got some of the influences for GIJoe and it's characters on my own video. I will post it if anybody cares to see it. I was asking Larry questions at this years 2011 Joe Con in Orlando and it's almost like Larry could care less about GI Joe. To him it was just a job. Larry was given Characters and he filled in their stories. Hama did a wonderful job at the stories but he said to me that GI JOE was just a job. He had no idea about character specifics and I was sad to hear his lack of knowledge about GI JOE characters he wrote the stories for. I guess it's ok that he's not really that into GI JOE that much but the one thing I relized is that somebody at hasbro or marvel or somebody came up with the GI Joe characters names and or look and all Larry did was fill in their backgrounds and storylines. I even test questioned Hama about Zarana and Zandar being twins or not (I know they're not) and he really had know idea who the older one is. I hope this isn't too harsh on Hama because he really did a wonderful job writing Joe comics but the characters looks/names came from others at hasbro or whoever. Don't hang me for this Larry Lovers.

That's my point He doesn't love it. It's just a job for him. He's not a fan like you'd think he'd be. Good guy other than that. Very honest with me. I appreciated that

He must be so sick of answering the exact same questions over and over again. Poor guy.
Nice to see him smiling and having fun though, During and shortly after the RoC movie he was taking a lot of flack for being part of it and he always looked stressed, angry and acted very defensive and impatient. Which may or may not of been deserved. I'm enjoying his current run on ARAH, it just feels like old times again.

Am I the only one here that thinks Larry Hama needs to be distanced from GI Joe? What he has to offer isn't really helping the genre anymore.
Yes, ok, he is the George Lucas of GI Joe but honestly, who here thinks George should continue to do anything more with SW stories? No one. That's the same for Larry. Even in this video he says "That's why kids enjoy my stories". Here's an idea, learn who the fan base is. Kids are playing Bakugan, Ben 10 and what ever else. Not to mention they are all in Xbox world now. GI Joe must evolve. Larry needs to consult possibly, but for gods sake, get him outta the dam captains chair. And compared to him? Most of us here are still "kids." Lord knows enough of us act like it. That, and to date, it's highly debatable if anyone's done a better job with G.I. Joe than he did. Quote:
Just like there are Star Wars fans that probably know far more about Star Wars (particularly the expanded universe) than George Lucas does (even if George has "veto power" the knowledge is still greater). |

When I wen't to Joe Con 2011 in Orlando Fl, I met Mr.Hama and it wasn't for an autograph, it wasn't to ask him questions, it was simply to tell him I flew all the way from California just to shake his hand and say thanks for all he has given us! I Love his work and he is the sweetest person you will probably ever meet! aside from G.I.JOE and Wolverine and Bucky and all the comics he has provided for us to enjoy, he also served this country and is a respected Veteran, and for what it's worth I think Larry looks pretty damn good for a Vet his age! thank God he is giving us his efforts on G.I.JOE again!! Bless Larry Hama!!...He has given us kids at heart and kids alike a common ground to stand on, The world of fantasy in the stories he has written one page at a time still keeps us captivated and entertained!!
