I can never really tell by the way they word things... but I think the club store has wave 3 and 4 in stock. I just ordered wv 3... so we'll see. GIJOECLUB.COM - The Official G.I. Joe Collectors' Club!
And by wave 3, I mean wave 5... Jungle BAT and Steel Brigade wave. Last edited by MightyMegs; 05-11-2011 at 09:45 PM.. |

Yep they have it up for order, but you're still gonna be waiting to get it. As it says in the listing:

Why must they make it difficult? Just call it Wave 5 and 6 like everyone else. No one was calling the 25th series wave 1 of 2008 and wave 1 of 2009.
Lame.

So don't be expecting them anytime soon. Edit: Anyway, the listing for those interested and lazy. G.I. Joe Collectors' Club Online Catalog Both waves have been listed as pre-orders for a while now. But then on Tuesday, they post a blurb on their front page page saying 'We wanted to confirm that both new waves are available to order' and to 'get them while they last'. So I ASSUMED since they had the preorders up for a while, and just now said they were available... that meant they had them in stock. And they are notorious for not taking down their 'preorder' wording after they actually get something in... So they got me. Again. |

I think it's funny that it says that Wave 5 will be shipping out before wave 6 when it's been wave 6 that has been spotted at retail.

The core reason for that is that is how HASBRO labels the assortments these days. The big issue I've always had is that when fans go by their own naming of assortments, it tends to create confusion when Hasbro then talks about them. You see a "wave 3" on a pallet, which wave 3 do you think that is? Fans are calling the first wave of 2011 "wave 3", but Hasbro only considers that "wave 1" Heck, as is, since mid-2008, Hasbro barely even specifies which GI Joe branding is on the shelves anymore. To them and retailers, it is all "GI Joe". To Hasbro, we got 2010 GI Joe and 2011 GI Joe (which will include the 30th product, I'd almost bet the line doesn't even get a big SKU changeover)

Yeah, this "wave 1 2011" stuff is the nomenclature that Hasbro uses on the product cases, that is why it never quite goes away despite being a lot less logical for collectors.

Collectors don't care about sales and operations. In Hasbro's eyes they call it 2011 wave 1 so that the buyers and production can plan and make the figures. It helps to distinguish the first sale date of each item so that they can determine how profitable it ends up being. There's a reason why items are named the way they are and not alway apparent to the end consumer.
