Question:
With three versions of Ace--including the ARAH-inspired comic pack version--having appeared in the modern era, what was the rationale behind the newly designed Ace that will accompany the upcoming Skystriker? This seemed like a great opportunity to release a cartoon-style Ace, whose look differs greatly from his comic and original toy counterpart. |

Dunno. They had that one set of customs that they trotted out for several cons in a row, and I think they added a few characters to it here and there, but generally it's been the same bunch for a couple or three or four years now, and it's been whittled down a bit as some of the characters that were made as customs have been made into retail figures (not exactly the same versions, but the same character).
I thought I glimpsed a few photos of them from this year's Joe-Con but they don't get much attention anymore because they've been seen so many times. |

Personally, I don't think Joe has a large enough collector base to make it worth Hasbro's while. Let's not forget that the far more numerous Star Wars fans clamored for YEARS to get a "Jabba's Fat Dancer" figure...which ended up being one of the worst pegwarmers in the line's history. |

Joe fans shouldn't get to vote for a single product that Hasbro ever releases. |

even worse, the same said Joe fans who claim female figures would jump off the shelf and Hasblow is stoopid for not making them had an opportunity to vote to get two female figures that certainly could have benefited from new or altered versions -- Scarlett and Baroness (the latter which already had a brand new mold that either would have got us a single carded Baroness in black or a cartoon version of the awesome 5 pack mold) and voted for neither.

Any fan with internet access could've voted on said polls. I don't think the diehard fanbase was the largest group of voters on those polls.

Like I said the first time around: No matter the results, people will complain.
Personally I think the HoH vote was messed up from the get go (primarily because it included a bunch of figures that hadn't even been released yet), but I do find it interesting that the results do seem to at least partially back up Hasbro's continual refrain that Snake-Eyes is the best seller and females aren't as popular as we seem to think. |

Unfortunately voluntary votes (as opposed to sampling a subsection of the population) always tends to be skewed towards the two extremes of those who really do and really don't want/like/etc. the subject of the vote.
Regarding female figures, I have absolutely no interest in them I've got to say, but I also don't absolutely hate them, so would probably not vote at all if someone was running a poll about whether we should have more female figures. This is the root of the problem. What might be better is to ask all members to vote on any particular question that is being asked (though that will probably be rather annoying for many people) and then look at the statistics of who votes for/against and who just ignores it/abstains due to lack of interest, to decide whether any positive/negative signal is actually significant. |
