<div style="clear:both">G.I. JOE ‘A REAL AMERICAN HERO’ ACTION FIGURES CELEBRATES 25th ANNIVERSARY
Quote:
Hasbro Introduces Commemorative Figure Set With Favorite Characters From The 80s!
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (February 9, 2007) In 1982 Hasbro introduced a new line of products that changed the landscape of boys action figures: G.I. JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO. The innovative line of 3-3/4-inch, fully articulated and fully poseable action figures complete with molded uniforms, gear and vehicles, quickly became one of the most memorable toy lines of the 1980s. The A REAL AMERICAN HERO line launched not only a successful line of toys, but was also represented in an animated series and in a Marvel Comics series. Over the years, the G.I. JOE vs. COBRA storyline provided an opportunity to introduce more than 500 figures, including some ‘real-life’ people, such as Sgt. Slaughter and William “Refrigerator†Perry. Now, twenty-five years later, Hasbro will commemorate the anniversary with the release of a special edition series of A REAL AMERICAN HERO figures that features the twenty-five most popular characters in the history of the line. G.I. JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO sets (Approximate retail price of $25.00; Ages: 5 & up; Available: Summer 2007) Sure to delight fans both new and old, 25th Anniversary Figures are all new sculpts and the most detailed and articulated G.I. JOE figures ever! Hasbro kick-offs the anniversary with the release two special-edition sets, each containing five classic G.I. JOE characters from the A REAL AMERICAN HERO line. Characters include G.I. JOE force’s fearless patriots DUKE, SNAKE EYES, GUNG HO, SCARLET and ROAD BLOCK, as well as their slithery adversaries COBRA COMMANDER, DESTRO, STORM SHADOW, BARONESS and a COBRA TROOPER. Each pack also comes with a sound box in the shape of the G.I. JOE logo that plays the beloved theme from the G.I. JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO animated series. G.I. JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO single packs (Approximate retail price of $6.00; Ages 5 & up; Available: Fall 2007) Each of the fifteen 3-3/4-inch figures – in replica G.I. JOE packaging circa 1982 – will feature new sculpts, enhanced articulation, and a base stand featuring the character’s name.

Agreed. However, we'll more than likely see another troop builder within the singled carded 15, and I'm sure Hasbro won't miss the opportunity to cash in on a single carded trooper.
I really don't mind waiting until fall for the singled carded figures either...gives me time to bank a lot of cash before then ![]() |

thats good news except for the fact the Trooper. well sure makes it a lot easier to buy them, instead of hunting down one figure at a time.

I guess the price is not too bad considering that the single figures come with a stand with their names and the 5-packs come with a sound box but I wish the Cobra Trooper was single carded. I do like the fact that they are not all coming out at one time. $50 in the summer and at least $90 in the fall. I may have to skip some Transformers (movie figures) for these but maybe not.

After reading the text about the 15 single pack figures having "replica G.I. JOE packaging circa 1982" I decided to look at the 1982 section on YoJoe.com and noticed that there were 17 figures that year. There were 11 single carded, 4 vehicle drivers, and 2 mail in. Now there are 4 figures that are in the 5-packs (Snake-Eyes, Scarlett, Helmet Cobra Commander, and Cobra Trooper). Now they could pack the Cobra Trooper as a single and replace Helmet Cobra Commander with Hooded Cobra Commander and remove Scarlett and Snake-Eyes and we would have 15 figures. Granted that 6 of them did not have a single carded figure that year but they did have file are just like the art used on the front of the card. What I'm getting at is that the last fifteen could be the remaining figures from 82 with the inclusion of the Hooded Cobra Commander and a single Cobra Trooper. Here is the list which I found on YoJoe.com.
Single: Breaker, Cobra (Trooper), Cobra Officer, Flash, Grunt, Rock N Roll, Short-Fuze, Stalker, Zap, Single Removed, used in 5-pack: Scarlett and Snake-Eyes Vehicle Drivers: Clutch, Grand Slam, Hawk, Steeler Mail-in: Major Bludd and Hooded Cobra Commander (not released in 82 but added in place of helmet version) Mail-in Removed, used in 5-packs: Helmet Cobra Commander (replaced with hooded version)

Yeah...kinda disappointed with the trooper being lumped in the 5 pack. But who knows how I'll feel when it comes time to order. Heres to hoping there are troopbuilders in the single packs..I can live with 2 troopbuilders out of the remaining 15.
And who knows...if the line does well....the mold is there, we may see that trooper in a single pack sooner or later.

The "Fifteen figure" remark likely refers to the remaining 15 unrevealed figures (for a total of 25).
Even going conservative with 6 figure waves, 15 only breaks down to two waves plus a couple, and right before Christmas? I'm certain we'll be seeing reuses in some form, particularly the trooper and probably several others in the box sets.

At that rate if they do 8 different characters per case they could do all 15 in two waves with the 16th being a single carded Cobra Trooper, although that wouldn't make sense either since having only 1 trooper builder per case defeats that purpose. We should know a lot more at Toy Fair.
