Snake Eyes (5-pack, single, comic pack, Hawk, Stalker) Duke (5-pack, comic pack, Flint) Scarlett (5-pack, comic pack) Gung Ho (5-pack) Roadblock (5-pack) Cobra Commander (5-pack #1, 5-pack #2, single, comic pack) Destro (5-pack, SDCC single silver and gold) Baroness (5-pack) Storm Shadow (5-pack #1, 5-pack #2, single, comic pack, Red Ninja) Cobra Trooper (5-pack #1, 5-pack #2 3 times, Cobra Officer, single) Lady Jaye (single) Serpentor (single) Buzzer (single) Beachhead (single, Firefly) Zartan (single) Shipwreck (single) The high amount of repaints had been bothering me for a while, and according to your list (and my math): We have been offered 16 original sculpt figures...and an additional 22 repacks/repaints/retools! I can't understand why Hasbro is investing so little into the Joe brand. It's not like Hasbro can't afford to take some risk by offering new sculpting first and then switching to repaints later. I can't think of any Hasbro toy line than had more repaints than all-new sculpts (other than the first year of 3 3/4). My worry is the line will die from pegwarming before it has a chance to take off. I am already seeing pegs start to fill with SE and SS in my area (CA). And these guys will continue to ship in wave after wave... |

Time is the issue. The line was not going to be this huge. The two 5 packs was all they had planned.

What Destro said. Ten became Twenty-Five and now an ongoing toy line. Wave one of the singles are barely retooled because of time. On top of that only seven of the ten wave 2 and 3 figures use none 5-pack molds and one of those seven (Firefly) is a mold from wave 2. Now that Hasbro knows the line will sell they will make more original molds and will probably do fewer repaints/remolds. Still if they can take parts from several figures and make a new character or repaint a few I wouldn't mind since the more money they make the more we will get and the better figures they will make. That is my take on it anyway.
Edit: Welcome to the boards murphbri. I forgot to say that.

I'm not really going to complain about repaints, I'll just buy what I want and don't buy what I don't want. All I hope is that most of the characters I want are released. |

Edit: Welcome to the boards murphbri. I forgot to say that. Time will tell how the repaint to original-sculpt ratio will go. I take comfort in the fact that Hasbro will pretty much have to produce an all-new sculpt for my favorite figure, the B.A.T. ;) |
