very well said. i would have mr. hama pick up were he left off, i think the marvel run was very good for the most part. i also do not think the age of the characters is ever an issue. it has never been an issue in any comics, i mean aunt may has been a geeze for 40 years and she is still alive and kicking, age does not come into play in the fictional comic joeverse. i would love to see how larry hama would resolve things from where he left off. and if he is the one writing the new book as it seems he is i suspect that is what will happen. i think from all i have read that the movie related book will be totally seperate like they did with transformers. i read the movie adaptation to transformers and all though the art was poop the books were not bad. i just don't want to see anything with the movie origins get into the maine joe title. keep it seperate. devils due has done a great job using the old continuity for 8 years now, so i think it is clear there is still a significant readership for continuing the continuity especially with larry hama writing

Unless IDW do a complete reboot, I'd rather they didn't ignore the DDP run.
If they did it would be a significant poke in the eye to those of us (however small a minority we are) who actually enjoyed the recent comics.

i loved the dd run i have been a reader since issue one with the nano mites, and ww3 is amazing, but i would really love to see where hama would have gone had the original run continued. and the one thing i did not like about dd was they killed off to many characters, namely lady jay

I enjoy the current series, and I don't think we're exactly in the minority. The haters just seem to post more frequently.
I definitely want the new series to follow the Marvel DDP continuity. It is possible to write a new-reader-friendly book that keeps old-school fans happy. Have faith in Hama. |
