I doubt they will reboot Gi Joe with many elements from the 80's. I love the 80's joe but the powers that be wont let us go back. We will have to settle for the new. Hopefully they will hire better writers for Gi Joe products (comics, movies, cartoons, figure creative teams) If you look at the remakes or reboots of TV series (Battlestar galactia, Flash Gordon, V) The producers writers changed with the time, kept core elements but created entirely new stories.

By all means, keep it steam rolling ahead!
John Chu, Justin Beiber and nanomites are so much better than anything else.

Personally I find a used car salesman that through his pain, ingenuity, vitriol, inquity, charisma, and cunning, built an organization from the ground up utilizing terror and money, a bit more realisitic than a miliatry scientist who has to inject people with a nano virus to get supporters to his cause. Anyway... I can't find the post, but to go as far to say Hama "was paid to lie by Paramount," is unfounded, unfair to Hama, hyperbole, and purely conjecture. Unless you know Hama personally, who's to say he wasn't satisfied with the finished product? Maybe Hama is like a lot of people on this site and was just happy to see characters named "Duke," "Snake Eyes," "Scarlett," and "C.C." on the silver screen. I would have to question why Hama liked this verison of JOE, but until more credible information comes in, I can't question the veracity of his liking of the finished product. |

And I'm trying to understand why you think the movie pissed on your memory of GI Joe, a GI Joe that includes Fatal Fluffies I might add. It's that kind of hyperbole that makes me despise the fandom sometimes with an unbridled passion. "Rapes my childhood", "pissed on my memories"?
Grow up already. It's what I said before, people can't stand the idea of the movie not being "their joe". It's ego, nothing more. There's no reason why the movie should have any bearing on your memories of the cartoon at all when it's a completely separate entity. Stop trying to be the movie's victim, because victims are pitied, not respected. See below. You mean the same Masters of the Universe movie that was nominated for 6 genre awards, and won 2? The same movie that took a sniveling, ineffectual, comic relief villain like Skeletor and made him an epic, pants-sh*ttingly scary threat courtesy of Frank Legalla? The same one that a lot of normal people actually can go back and watch on DVD and say, "Hey, that's not too bad for an 80s fantasy flick". If they had spent less time on Earth and more on the Eternia it might have been up there with Flash Gordon (a soundtrack by Queen wouldn't have hurt either). Now, admittedly those clips are focusing on the best parts (Frank Legalla), but that looks a hell of a lot better than most of the genre crap on movie screens back then. This is why it's important to step back once in a while from our little nerd circle-jerks where we all validate each-other's opinions of what real He-Man or real Joe is and see how the rest of the world sees it. The first Joe movie was no great cinematic achievement, but the foundations of a good sequel are there and with good writers (which they now have) they could make a genuinely good story. Now if you really want see someone piss on your memories, I can do that a lot better than the movie, because nothing hurts worse than the truth. |

there is NOT going to be a reboot. goodness. why are people making the same polls over and over again? I know you all mean well but still. and...for what it's worth...if you hated it that much, they can always make the continuation of it feel very very different and introduce concepts and characterizations that were not present in the first. just everyone settle. I mean, it can't please everyone. you all better thank the heavens I'm not the director/writer of a Joe film otherwise you'd have the Ninja Force, Star Brigade, Golobulus, Serpentor, Cesspool. so yeah...that's how I feel.

Regardless, Paramount is dragging their feet with the movie. They don't seem eager to give it the greenlight.
