Just finished re-reading the GI Joe:Cobra TPB.
Now that would have been an awesome RoC movie. It probably wouldn't have been that great for broad audiences, but man, with a big reveal at the end of the twins, and what Chuckles saw just being the beginning... yeah, that would have been awesome.

Do you believe that people praise what they like just as much as they complain about what they don't like? I don't hate haters. I don't know them well enough to form that strong an opinion of them. Truth be known, Rocky said a kind thing to me in another thread a while back and after that I noticed the haters apparently ganging up on him in various RoC debate threads, so I decided to try and help him out. Previously I simply lurked the debate threads and quietly laughed at the weak arguments presented by the haters. I was content to observe and felt no compulsion to engage in the conversation. Having gotten into it a little bit I've found it an entertaining way to spend my breaks at work. 146 > 103 |

Sorry, what about what I posted makes you think I'm somehow proving your point?
You were making the point that those who liked the movie were simply content in their enjoyment of the movie, and only the haters were being vocal and making arguments. My point was that the supporters of RoC were not content, they were vocal too, which is the opposite (that means contrary, or different) of what you said. Quote:

Having gotten into it a little bit I've found it an entertaining way to spend my breaks at work. I find the discussion entertaining too. So what's the difference between you and me? We're on opposite sides of the issue, that's the only thing. That doesn't make my stance any less legitimate than yours, and I don't understand why you persist in trying to argue that it is.

That's the point of a debate Derek!
What's a Hater-hater if not one that hates haters? Took you long enough to reply. I don't "fancy myself above" but am flattered that you do. I assure you we are all on equal footing in my eyes and certainly all fans of GI Joe, Right? Now I've got to go back to work. I'll read you later. |

I disagree with both your sports team analogy as well as your political affiliation analogy and believe the converse is true.
In sports you typically root for the home team, and possibly another you've decided is your favorite and stick with them regardless of their performance, true enough. Politics; you stick with your party, regardless of your candidate, true too. Pop culture; you latch on to the source material, and bemoan anything that deviates. You can probably count on half a hand the # of "comic book" movies that have come out that didn't have the fans outraged at the differences between the finished product and the character's original/ most widely accepted representation. My experience posting on this site is somewhat limited, but it can certainly seem at times that the fan-bases dissatisfaction with the current product is very vocal. Then you attach a poll to your thread and all of a sudden the majority likes it. People like to complain, those that are satisfied are content with their satisfaction. |

I actually polled my friends, family, and co-workers on this subject to see what non GI Joe fanboys thought.
The overwhelming majority haven't seen the film, and don't care to. The few that did see it thought X-Men Origins: Wolverine was better. I don't know if that means they liked it or not, but it does prove they liked one crappy movie more than the other. |

As a fan of the Marvel, Image, DDP, comics, Sunbow, and finally the Hasbro Line, I want to apoligize in advance if I offend anyone, the movie was horrible, very little grounded in tradition, some taken from the image series story line and etc. Inaddition the movie completely missed the mark, militarily. The producers need to take notes off the Resolute Cartoon, who captured the essence of Joe and the some brutal reality of being a Soldier.
