If you're in school-
A means excellent B means good C means average The only kids who are happy to get C's are the stupid ones. I put myself in that category b/c whenever I got a "C" in math it was a friggin' miracle. It's weak trying to claim "Average" as your own, if being "average" is the only way you can claim victory, well then congrats. Yhay. What a sad victory. |

"It was an average film, on par with the genre "
Nothing about the word "average" implies that average is a good thing good. Nothing about "on par with the genre" suggest that par for the genre is a good thing. This poll simply asks if the movie was great, above average, average, below average or sucked. That's all. We're not asking "did you like the movie", we're asking "was it any good?" 39% said yes. 39% also said no. The rest didn't feel either way about it they thought it was average. It should be noted that regardless of how off the "RoC Lovers win by majority" argument is, it can't even be the argument here. It should also be noted that the "really bad" votes nearly triple the "really good" votes.

As it stood when I did my paper the trend was within a few (1-4% iirc) percentages of their market share, as to the liking or disliking of their soda. Most people who love coke hate pepsi. Most people who love pepsi hate coke. Both of those group make our RoC lovers/haters look like best of friends. People who only like coke or pepsi more then the other generally still like the other, but again some hate the other. I however like both but prefer pepsi. There is no soda flavor I love as much as GI Joe, not even close. :-) All that being said in the past 20 or so years has this changed much? I do not know. I do not really want to spend two or three weeks of research again to find out for you. However if I had to make a guess I would say both their approval and market share would be lower now then in the 80's since there are so many more sodas on the market now.

And to clarify that I have not claimed any victory.... to imply that I have is just wrong as I have no stake financial or otherwise in ROC....if they pass or fail is none of my concern. If the poll was showing them as failing then I certainly would be defending that..... a victory no matter how great or how small is still a victory and ROC can claim that......there Victory not mine. Sad but true. Last edited by Rocky; 12-14-2009 at 08:46 PM.. |

But what you typed above is my point - both companies make a product that generally pleases people who like cola. If either Coke or Pepsi gathered a bunch of people in a room who liked cola flavor, gave them a white cup with their brand of soda in it and asked "do you like the taste", and only 46% or 39% said yes, they wouldn't be very happy. They might be happy with a 46% market share, but not with a 46% approval rating of their product in a blind taste test. That was my point about market share not being a good comparison - it's not about "us vs them", it's simply about whether the is the product good. 46% said yes in the other poll, 39% said yes in this poll.

Obviously those that enjoyed RoC can't claim average as theirs because clearly the haters need to claim it as theirs in order to prove their point, right? I've enjoyed plenty of movies that weren't great, and I guess that's the point. Haters didn't enjoy it, nor did they think it was good. $400 million plus spent by people to see it but not many people liked it, is that you're argument? |

Closing this thread now boys and girls. Gone on long enough and neither side has proved anything to anybody and it just keeps going round and round and round.
