I think it would seriously rock the f-n' socks. Probably far better than Sommers.

Luc Besson would be a great choice for the sequel. I also feel that anyone other than Sommers would be a good choice, except McG or Brett Ratner both would churn out similar crap to Sommers.

when i think of luc besson films i think of the fifth element,the first two transporter movies,and the professional.i would love to see his take on the joe universe.

I asked Larry Hama who he would have liked to have seen direct the film. Surprisingly this was his answer. He also mentioned some of his other favorite films (Wild Bunch, Seven Samurai, Delicatessen to name a few). Interesting dude that Hama is.
