This thread is still going?
Why? What's left to debate at this point?

As far as my opinion of people who claim to love the film, the full extent of that is simply that they have no taste. I'm not sure what you're trying to imply there, but I like lots of people who loved the movie. Take Troynos for example. Sure, his taste is all in his mouth, but he's a good dude. Quote:
I don't question that at all. The real question is, can yours crap in a fishbowl?! Well, there's whether or not self-harm is funny, whether or not a cat can crap in a fishbowl...

If not, then ALL the films I consider good, (some examples being FORBIDDEN PLANET, ZULU, MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH, CQ, A CANTABURY TALE, BLACK NARCISSUS, THE LADY VANISHES, FOREIGN CORRESPONDANT, GET CARTER, DUNKIRK, CONTACT, BRAZIL, MAGNOLIA...) they must all be crap because I have no taste, right? The 'worst' thing you can say about me on this is that my tastes are 'eclectic'. I'd agree, because I'm actually damn proud of the fact that I'm not a snob and have diversity in my interests and the films, books & television that I like. But to so casually toss out the accusation that I have 'no taste' is so effortlessly offensive, and so snide & elitist too. A total stranger loves a film you don't, so immediately they get dumped into the 'pleb' bracket. Remarkable.

Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning? Why do you persist in taking offense to every little thing I say around here, even when I state clearly that I'm just kidding?

What's "remarkable" is your ability to take so personally and so seriously things I didn't direct at you personally, or in any serious way at all. The "taste" comment was in obviously lobbed at the loyal opposition as a casual, friendly insult, not as a snide, elitest, offensive comment. I literally just yesterday made comments about how cats crapping in a bowl was as important as the RoC debate. Now c'mon, based on that, how seriously do you think I take this stuff? Let's be real here, you started at me over comments I made comparing the RoC debate to whether or not a cat can crap in a bowl. I wasn't even responding to you and you called me out, and tried to insinuate that my comment meant something more than it did. So who's being snide here? Again, let me apologize for offending you. But I'm not going to stop making tongue-in-cheek comments. If you're going to continue to choose to take my comments so seriously, and so personally, I suggest you put me on ignore.

There has to be some reason people enjoyed this film. I figured masochism is just as good an explanation as any. |

I'm sorry I'm sensitive - I know I shouldn't as it's 'only the internet', but that's me. Won't give any reasons ('excuses'?) why I'm that way. Better just to leave this debate behind and look forward to the DVD so I can enjoy it in peace.

I'm not going to buy the DVD unless one of the special features is an alternate version of the movie with better acting, a better script, and over all doesn't just plain suck big fat monkey schlong. (No offense C.I.A.D.)
