Right now that's every bit as probable as anything else. Hell, why not!?

I doubt this is true since no one can find the source, but if it was I would like to see Jon Favreau or Chris Nolan, but since there is no chance in hell either of those guys would do it. I say leave Sommers on the sequel with a better script I think he can make a better movie.

It won't work that way. It has to be somewhat funny and cheesy, otherwise it's just another army/war movie. That's what I'm trying to tell you.
The Punisher is a perfect example of this. It can't be "real" because it's just like every other revenge movie. A Man Apart, Death Wish, The Brave One. Those might as well be "real" Frank Castle Punisher movies. GI Joe can't translate into "real". They might as well just have never made it. They're outlandish characters, tech and situations to begin with. I agree it has to be "somewhat funny and cheesy". But "somewhat" is the key word when talking about a live-action cartoon adaptation. Wayans worked really well in the film, despite my misgivings about them using a b-list white character and making him Duke's politically-appropriately-non-white best friend. Wayans brought an appropriate level of fun and swagger to the movie. But the acting, script, direction, effects, and the rest, sucked. I agree the movie has to be fun, and outlandish... but it didn't have to be so beyond belief that it was hard to take.

I dunno.. I thought the pacing for IRON MAN was a bit leaden and the ending rather rubbish. He seemed good with character, but not so much with action.

Put my Vote down for JJ Abrahms working from a Larry Hama Screenplay. Also get Weta or Lucas Arts to handle the CGI, part of my extreme disappointment in the film was the sheer awfulness of the special effects. There are scenes in the film that totally break my more than willing suspension of disbelief!
