It leaves me to wonder if those who occupy the C-suite at Hasbro thinks LdiB's JOEverse and Bayformers were on brand.
After they participated in a Barbie boot camp put on by Mattel, which began with a history lesson on Barbie inventor Ruth Handler... At one point Richard Dickson, COO and president of Mattel, says he took a flight to the London set to argue with Gerwig and Robbie over a particular scene, which he felt was off-brand. https://time.com/6289864/barbie-time-cover-story/

Fantastic point. There?s so much hasbro could/should learn from the hype and (expected) success of the Barbie Movie, starting with finding and empowering creators who genuinely love and appreciate the totality of the property, for all it?s camp, complexity, and contradictions.
Really like this quote too: ?In that very first meeting, we impressed upon Ynon we are going to honor the legacy of your brand, but if we don?t acknowledge certain things?if we don?t say it, someone else is going to say it,? she says. ?So you might as well be a part of that conversation.?

Say bruh, if that Barbie movie does huge numbers at the box office, (and I speaking as somebody who doesn't know shit about Barbie's lore,) dudes are going to be like Barbie has a successful film and being that G.I. JOE has so much to draw from to set the foundation for a successful film franchise what is it about G.I. JOE that di Bonaventura isn't getting, understanding, or accepting and why is he being allowed to continue making this shitty G.I. JOE movies?

Because he owns the rights to do so in perpetuity as long as he cranks one out every so often, and because of that legally binding licensing contract not even Hasbro can strip him of those rights without either buying him out (likely to the tune of hundreds of millions if not a billion+) or proving in a court of law that he violated the contract.

That would be funny if Chris Cocks flew to the Transformers set and got into Michael Bay's face. Bay would probably choke him out. lol

The quality of detail in the Classified line shows that there are people at Hasbro who care about GiJoe still. They must make money though, so being concerned about it as an income source is vital.

are you speaking of Cobra Eels using Torpedo's body, harpoon gun, and flippers? Or are you speaking of Snow Serpent using Snowjob's body and snow shoes, Bazooka's backpack and weapons, Cobra Valkyries' guns and knife, etc? If quality, detail, and caring were priorities, these 2 figures would not be getting released in this embarrassing fashion. but Hasbro needing to make money does explain it |
