IMI aka Insult My Intelligence
Moments from the film that made you say ... WTF, why are they feeding me this crap and calling it gourmet dinner? **Not a BASH thread** Point of thread is specifically for pointing out awkward moments 1) Paris Pursuit Train Fiasco Okay, I get that the accelerator suits would make for some cool action sequences. But when did Paris have a HIGH SPEED BULLET TRAIN rocket through the center of a major city, through a major street, without warning its citizens?! Think about it ... SS says "He never gives up" and then WHAM train hits Humvee. Are you serious? Most regular trains have warning signs, let alone BULLET TRAINS ... that magically run through like the center of the city. I found this as a pure excuse to give us the scene where the Joe's in the Delta 6 suits could jump through a fast moving vehicle. I think this scene would've been better and more dramatic given the characters compromising it ... if it had been cut the way it was in the trailer. That SS would say "He never gives up" ... then it is actually Snake Eyes who slams his sword through the roof almost killing SS. 2) Storm Shadow / Spaghetti Sauce Huh? One of ... if not the most skilled ninja, a top of the line mercenary in the world resorts to throwing tomato sauce at a foe (a Joe) instead of doing something more in line with his character and abilities? ... yeaaaa, ok. 3) Young Snake Eyes .... Ninja Bad Ass? Ehhhh Knows pretty much elite forms of martial arts before ever being taught or entering into the Arishikage Clan, as a young boy ... ummm awkward fight scene ensues between young and experienced SS and little boy whose hungry Snake Eyes, who happens to hold his own extremely well against an adversary who we can assume has been training in martial arts shortly after being able to walk. |

Duke, who's underwater, telling the rest of the Joes that "we've got tons of steel and ICE coming our way" as the Cobra/MARS arctic base breaks up ...

It's not a bash thread so much as just a weird moments thread. I liked the movie and I can contribute to this.
Pretty much every single movie in the world has a couple of scenes that make you go "huh", just the way it works. 2. The spagehetti sauce didn't bother me. He's a ninja, his goal is to eliminate his foe any way possible. Didn't bother me cause it was the nearest weapon at hand and would effectively distract his foe. And it worked. Also, wasn't Ripcord still in the full A-Suit at the time? Why would a master Ninja like Storm Shadow waste precious time using throwing stars or blades against a suit of armor? The suit makes Ripcord stronger and, as far as SS knows, able to crush bone. SS wants to get as far out of the reach of that thing as fast as possible. So he uses whatever weapon is at hand. Just like a real ninja master would. 3. This bothered me ALOT. How is it that street orphan SE, who's digging thru garbage cans for food and sneaking into temples to steal food, is an expert martial artist? I really hope that is explained in the sequal, and explain how he ended up being a kid on the streets of Tokyo. I did like the original editing where SS says "he never gives up" and the sword goes thru the roof. That was cool. Does Paris have an actual bullet train? I don't know for sure. I just chalk it up to there being plenty of warning signs and everyone was too distracted to notice 'em. The thing that really bugged me... Zartan is in the PIT posing as a guard. Baroness and SS escape and we see Zartan now posing as the desert guy walking the camels. Next time we see him he's back at the arctic HQ. HOW DID HE GET THERE!!! Baroness and SS end up going straight to Paris, they never go back to the arctic HQ. How does Zartan get out of the PIT in the first place? And how does he get back to the Arctic HQ in time for the nanomite surgery, and then to Washington? Also, well we're on Zartan. The Neo-Viper posing as secret service kills the other secret service man and there's a couple bullet holes in the walls. When the president (now Zartan) comes out of the bunker, no ones stops to ask why there's only one guard when there was orginally 2 and why there are now bullet holes in the bunker? I liked the movie. I had alot of fun watching the movie. But, like I said, there really isnt' any movie that you can't find a couple of "huh" and "that makes no sense" scenes. Does it detract from the movie? Sometimes. In this case it didn't, at least for me.
