Tom Clancy was actually a terrible overrated author.
I did read Rainbow six after I got the iconic PC first person shooter/spec ops/swat game that came out in the late 90's. The OG Rainbow Six PC game was absolutely amazing. I recall the book being super-boring and forcefully read my way through that book and it literally read like something Larry Hama would write post issue 100 marvel run. It dealt with serious issues but had comic book cartoony caracatures that even Larry would have frowned upon. The movie Clear and Present Danger was amazing. A truly Timeless American classic that you will never see a movie like that again! Ding and the spec ops characters represented in that movie was accurate! Tom Clancy really made alot of money from those movies and the games. Otherwise, Larry Hama was better. Really not saying much! |

Yes and Patriot Games is my personal favourite of the three. There's also The Sum of All Fears, which is meh, and Shadow Recruit, which I rather enjoyed and wish they had made more of.

I hope to get around to seeing every Jack Ryan movie/series. The Amazon Prime one sounds really good.

Yeap. James Earl Jones as James Grear is the connective tissue given that Alec Baldwin was replaced by Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan and Gates McFadden is replaced by Anne Archer as Cathy Ryan. I still find it weird that Sum of All Fears was a soft reboot of the franchise instead of a fourth film.
