Michael Bay? Bay would be great for the action and the money he brings in but they really need to bring in a credible writer.

After the three miserable flops at the box office, I can't imagine anyone funding another GI Joe movie for several decades.
They had the star power of The Rock and Bruce Willis and people still stayed away. I think we should all just enjoy our figures and accept that there will never be a "good" GI Joe movie. Hollywood is incapable of delivering us what we want. |

Ridley Scott did Blackhawk Down, which is a fantastic film, but I can't honestly see him doing a G.I. Joe movie.

IMO, the director having ties to the military is less important than finding a director that has a clear vision for the concept, and a good storytelling sense. That said, I still think GI Joe works better in an episodic format just due to the breadth of potential characters it would need to feature to really be considered "GI Joe".
