I was going to use an example of scripting a live-action LJ series to show her being recruited into an already-existent Joe team ... then I remembered how bad that first flick sucked in their effort to prove Duke/Ripcord were Joe material. The only directors on this list I even know are Favreau and Letterier. And looking some of them up, they seem an odd choice for a military action film. I'd be curious why the OP chose some of them, like Trish Sie, for instance.

For a G.I. Joe film to succeed, the director and the writer(s) NEED to be fans of the property. I don't think Stephen Sommers (director of Rise of Cobra) was a fan, since he was already 20 when the toy line began. And Jon Chu, director of Retaliation, has never directed another action movie, aside from G.I. Joe. He directed a Justin Bieber documentary, for god's sake. Even if he was a G.I. Joe fan, as a kid, action films seem to be out of his wheelhouse.

Schwenkte never seems to care about anything he adapts to film. I garner he didn't really care about the RIPD comics before adapting them. He just lucked out with Red.
